Idk if it is possible to find the person/people that worked on this and ask, but I was wondering if there is an easter egg with him changing color/gaining wings to that represents welltall > id transformation from xenogears?

Theyre based on Pacific Rim, not Xenogears. Doubt Riot even knew of Xenogears at the time.
