Kai'sa has some "big" problems.

Kai'Sa - Biography - Universe of League of Legends

After reading Kai'sas lore I have to say this is one of the first times where a champion release has been this anti-climatic and it also doesn't add anything to the void, especially to Kassadins lore. Sure the images are great but that's really about it. So, let's start with the fact that this girl is trapped under the ground. As I was reading the lore I tried to remove the image we have of Kai'sa, I immediately picture someone that looks similar to Kalista because how would she survive for a decade without eating and also fighting these creatures she has to look like she had a rough time. The whole concept should have been a girl that has been merged with the void so I picture this girl half human and half void creature maybe purple and with 3 eyes like the voidlings, so she looks a bit disturbing but still human. Notice how in the story they said she "merged" with the void to try and explain why she looks hot, she just basically turns the void creatures into a cool futuristic suit... (wha the hell...). And then this girl has the audacity to tell humans not to be scared of her... YOU LOOK HOT there's nothing to be scared of when we look at you. [sg-lux-2] We have seen videos of them discussing new champions and doing a bunch of research, I don't know how they ended up with this one... Does anyone else agree or want to add anything to this? Sorry I just had to get it out of my system.

Its not even the hotness that bothers me, its the fact that she really doesn't bear any scars from her time of survival. And I don't mean literally scars I mean like consequences, either physical or mental. She's not even slightly crazy, she's not antisocial or any other social issues, she doesn't look like a Void creature like the story wants us to think she does, she's not even completely emotionless. She's just...normal, maybe a little muted, that's it.

What makes all this worse is that her bio doesn't even tell us anything about the character, her choices or the reasons for those choices, other than "she's strong-willed". The only real choice/action she makes to move the story is letting those goats go, which is supposed to be a prank and wasn't done with any real intent. WHY did she let the goats go? Was she talking to her friends or parents and was convinced to do it? Was she going through a rebellious streak? Was she just playful? How did that playfulness change after her decision? There's nothing to inform that action as far as I can tell. Then I guess she had the choice to give up or survive, which obviously she won't give up. What narrative/character-defining decisions does Kai'Sa actually make? I've listened to most of Kai'Sa's VO, I've read everything available about her, and I still feel like I don't know her.

She looks boring, her theme adds nothing new to the lineup, and she wastes a slot that a proper feminine void monster could occupy(Rek'Sai, being a mindless monster, might as well be an attack helicopter in this regard). [slayer-jinx-unamused]

I expected this champion to come out a literal drooling mess. With her head limped back, drooling, unable to form ANY proper speech and have very weird abilities that challenge my understanding of physics. Instead, and as someone else aptly put, we got an attractive young woman wearing a catsuit.

Yeah, it is kind of dumb they expect people to be scared of her despite the fact she's so sexy.

But then again, pretty much every human in the game is sexy. Maybe they've got a lower threshold for what's scary since everyone on the planet is attractive.

I absolutely agree. I feel like riot put no effort or story or even backbone to this champion. Lore wise, I was expecting so much from this champion, and what she would also reveal for the void which we knew almost nothing about. They could've done so much MUCH, more than they did. I liked what you said about her appearance and I absolutely agree with you. I feel that her "hotness" just is part of the fact that riot just mindlessly makes most of the Women in this game overly sexualized to appeal to the male audience? Even though what I want is a good champion, and being able to know that the company for 1 of my favorite games is actually putting effort into this game for us, when we spend so much time and effort and money into it. I share all of your frustration because I am a lore fanatic, and this really just irritated me and the direction that the game and the company has been going recently, but I guess that's a different topic.

She's the Rey of League of Legends, in other words, a Mary Sue. Everything just feels convinent for her, she barely deserves anything, has close to no negative features and decades within the presence of the void hasn't changed her in any way, by that i mean there was close to no consequence for her both physicaly and mentaly, there is a lot more to be said about Kai'Sa but so far i think this describes her well.

As a last note, I'd like to point out to every one who said that her lore will explain everything as well as to wait for said lore, that, just because Riot told us why, doesn't mean that it's a good answer, or that it makes any kind of sense. Her lore and design are overflowing with bad writing and choice.

One thing we need to consider: She was not underground the whole time. It was said that her daily struggle turned into years,but we don't know how many of them. Given that Kai'sa became a legend among the shurimans after she found a way out of the cave,it is likely that she was only trapped 2 or 3 years in it,which would mean that she lived already ~7 years above ground again,meaning she had plenty of time to recover from her trauma.

And while I don't like her design that much either,the whole "scared of her"-thing likely relates more to her suit.She probably can move freely around villages while wearing rags to cover the suit,only showing her face, and no one would have a problem with her,but seeing this void creature will strike fear into anyone who knows just how dangerous void monsters are.

Anyway I agree that the concept of "person fused with a void creature" isn't used to its fullest with her,but I think that wasn't the theme that riot was going for anyway,it was more along the lines of "girl using power armor/using a symbionte". The whole "person fused with void"-concept could still be used for a void parasite.

It can also be that the symbiote is nourishing her in some way by either consuming other voidlings or living things.
