how do i turn of stereo sound, i hate hearing different sounds on the right and left of my headphone

Do you normally listen with only 1 headphone in? Because, being able to hear directionally can actually help alot in your gameplay. I know, because I do this every now and then, and being able to only hear half the battle can be a bit confusing sometimes.
