Mixed feelings on this new Odyssey series so far...

Ok... so the full trailer for all the new skins (and series) coming soon is out... and yet I have so many mixed feelings. First, I want to make clear, the trailer is beyond great. There's a lot of little easter eggs that people are finding everywhere, like the book Yasuo is reading is about Garen x Kat. Yet I've also noticed things like when at Karaoke there's the Star Guardian animated song playing, Jinx and Malphite are essentially playing a smaller version of SR...chess? There's probably more but I'll leave that to others.

But my feelings more or less come from the choices of champs that are getting skins. Let's go over them one by one to see what I mean:

Jinx Let's get her out of the way: SHE'S BEING PROMOTED TOO MUCH LATELY! She got her last skin in December (before that getting her Legendary), has recently gotten more emotes, which I think outnumbers every other champ for emotes, and now is, yet again, getting another skin! Yes, I get it. She's a popular champ but I don't think it's ever a good idea to milk them out constantly. It's like the theory of having Christmas everyday: Good in thought but you'd probably get sick of it after a few days since it's not special anymore (kind of like how the gaming market is constantly pushing for Battle Royale thanks to PUBG and Fortfuck.)

Maybe if she didn't get her Elf skin last December, I'd be fine with this, but like everyone (or majority of people) is saying there's just too much Jinx right now.

Yasuo One of the, if not the top or tied for it, most hated champs in League...of all time. Again, popular champ but considering he's so god damn annoying to play against and most of the time I see, or rather I, ban him a lot I don't see why you need to make another skin for him. Especially considering he got his legendary last year!

What, are we just going to add Yasuo and Jinx to champs that consistently get one skin a year like Riven?

Malphite ....why? It's...a cool concept, don't get me wrong. I actually really like this idea. But...why Malphite and why now? In my personal opinion, I merely see him as a champ that's very outdated, in both base visuals, animations, and gameplay. It's kind of surprising that he gets a shiny new skin.

Sona So Karm-wait...oh! So...yeah this is the new Sona skin that people were talking about from her WAD files a while back. Honestly, I don't have that many issues with it. It's nice & brings a new design to her that breaks from the most of her skins looking the same. Only issue that I have, and if you didn't get the joke, is that initially I thought this was Karma. Seriously, the design of the circle behind her is Karma's thing, is it not? Kind of hope that there isn't confusion with the skin in-game cause I don't want to see it changed too much because of that.

Kayn I just can't wait to see what Rhaast looks like. That's all I care. OK to be more in-depth, it's an OK design so far. I can't tell what the different forms look like, so can't fully judge it, but hey it's promising so far. Only issue is that it's Kayn and while I like him, there are still so many other champs that have been released before him and have yet to get their additional skin that's non- ESports related. It's kind of like the issue with Zoe in a sense or even Xayah/ Rakan. RIP Ivern Camille Taliyah Kalista

Ziggs Similar issues with Yas and Jinx! He got a skin last year! Is he really that popular to warrant another fucking skin again!?!?

Overall...I don't want to say I'm not excited to this. The trailer, as always, does get me pumped a bit for what's coming. But with how Riot's been constantly promoting Jinx, some questionable choices by me for champs for this launch, and overall just not really getting around to champs that really do need new skins, it kind of makes me a bit disappointed with the final result.

IDK, your thoughts?

I think you're overly harsh on the champs here. Jinx and Yasuo BOTH are popular champions, and for skin lines, specifically brand new skin lines, to do well, they need to be spearheaded by popular champions to carry it. Furthermore, the whole feel of the skin line verges on Overwatch, and Yasuo pulls a Hanzo feeling really hard here, really driving him into the theme of the skin line. As many have pointed out, Jinx is similar to a Borderlands character, and she's also mirroring Lilu from Fifth Element to a degree.

As for Malphite, I have no issues with him, and I think he's probably the champion that best fits the Groot/hulking giant alien with low IQ but loyalty feeling quite well. I get that he's outdated, but unfortunately, they've passed him for other more problematic champions lately, since "rock monster" can hold up a lot longer than someone who's not supposed to have corners on their feet. If he gets a VGU, it'll be similar to how they did with Pirate Aatrox and Sashimi Akali, in that it'll probably get minor fixes to bring it in line.

Sona I absolutely adore, and I love the trope she's filling here of the scholar/clergy who gets wrapped up with pirates. The skin looks amazing, and it's a very cool direction for Sona, who hasn't really gotten any sci-fi skins at all, so this is a new leaf for her.

Kayn looks fun, and I'm excited to see him, especially since it's an 1820 skin. Also, people have been begging for a new Kayn skin, more so than the others you've requested. He's one of the slightly newer, more popular champions, so it's understandable he'd get a new skin before the others. Riot has pleased Kayn fans and checked a box they've been begged to check. They'll get to the others. Plus, the year isn't over yet, so there's still time for the others to get new skins. I personally look forward to what Halloween has to offer. If tradition ensues, we should get a Haunted Ivern skin, since the other plant beings have all gotten Haunted skins.

Ziggs feels weird to me, but maybe that's because he wasn't in the video.

The only reason I'm cool with Jinx in this skinline (and I'm going based on how it is set up) is because she's the only one that makes the team feel...fun or at least "we're ragtag misfits that get into shenanigans".

I feel like most other champs (human) will not be "shenanigans". TF or Graves, while that may be cool, won't be shenanigans. Graves would be a bad ass and TF would be that suave card shark. You can try to promote it as such, but they don't havethe same innate personalities for the misadventures Jinx has. Only reason. Otherwise, she's just there.

Yasuo...feels like he's there just to be there. AS in, yeah, he's captain. Yeah, he's meant to be the calm guy. But, you can have graves who is the solid badass. (note, I never play Graves, so this isn't favoritism).

Malphite hasn't had a new skin for a while, and even if he did, people don't think of Malphite as the guy with skins. He was due for something somewhat flashy, and to round out an intergalactic group, you need an alien. He is that alien.

Sona and Kayn, I'm mixing them together becasue as of right now, Sona and Kayn has been without skins for a while. ESPECIALLY Kayn as this is his first skin AFTER release. Sona and Kayn were most likely added due to the lack of skins they acquired in recent time. Sona most likely someone who was recently rescued by the Oddysey and Kayn being a dark conqueror or what have you looking for the woman he was going to force to be his bride (Sona)

you need to calm down on jinx, she only have 5 skins anyway, i don't understand why everyone think she has so many skins , and so much happen this year with half the champions already got new skins

I Can go on and on about this, but i don't understand why everyone being so butt hurt about jinx having a new skin when there was so much happening this past year , stop complaining please , It like riot can't never satisfy you guys

RIOT wouldn't even satisfy someone like you, ever, because your some kid ( or someone acting as one ) who wont ever be happy with the hard work and effort hey put into this free game! I love you though riot:)
