I love Varus' new and updated lore don't get me wrong, I spammed him since as we fall came out and got M4, but with that one image of Varus, Rhaast, and Aatrox all standing together.... Varus barely resembles the other two 1- he's purple 2- he actually has viable (and extensive) hair 3-he has two hosts . Etc etc Why does he look so different?
Because he was not created to be a Darkin, simple as that.
Like with base form Kayn, Varus is not in complete control of his body. Val and Kai still have agency over their actions. So, as of now, Varus is actually a good Darkin... until he gets a rework and gets a mechanic where Varus can take full control.
He wasnt a darkin. Riot decided to do a twofer and make varus a darking to appeal to the community and made him gay for.... Reasons?
I think he looks so different, IIRC, because his current body is made up of Val and Kai's bodies along with remnants of his own.
Because Darkin don't actually have to be red and black?
They used to be a race before this lore update, members of the same race don't necessarily have to look the same.
Tbh, i personally think it's because Varus is not fully in control of his body, so his human features are meant to represent that.
Aatrox and Rhaast use the flesh of their victims to create sick mockeries of their old ascended forms.
Varus created a whole new body from the flesh of two men.
