Hey Riot, about obtaining the Prestige K/DA Kai'Sa Skin... (with solutions)

(The post is win-win for both Pass users and non Pass users) So I was looking over the token amounts that I got throughout the event, and started to wonder if I can even get the skin without the pass. I currently have 260 available tokens (684 still locked behind the pass) out of the massive 2500 tokens the skin requires. With how many tokens are given out via missions, its theoretically impossible to obtain even if I were to play 7+ hours a day 7 days a week (Which I have done for most of the event). Anyone in my situation is basically forced to buy the pass, and here's the kicker: What if I don't have any money?

Sure, I can redeem the tokens for other event related things, but what if i'm not interested in any of them but the skin? It starts becoming a bit unfair for both the pass holder and non pass holders when situations come out of nowhere that force you to miss out on day(s) to get tokens amounts over the entire event to the point you are short. Not only that, but you are also forced to buy orbs and whatnot just to increase your total if you are unable to earn tokens via the pass (which is based on game performance, which i'll say it now, wasn't a good idea especially for newer players who's match consistency is going to be all over the place). On top of that, how in the world is someone gonna get every single event related hextech reward without having to shell $100+?

I'm not saying the event is terrible, but execution of the token system is under-performing imo. People who don't have any money to shell are forced to watch as they can't get a free skin despite doing at least most if not all the Worlds event missions that give tokens because the mass majority is locked behind a ~$15 pass that only grants 200 bonus tokens on purchase. The purpose of the pass should have been to allow players to get more tokens to accelerate their count, not be this controversial paywall. I get the skin is to be "rare", but its gonna be rare and unobtainable after the event ends, meaning its open to all who want it as the event persists.

Here's what I have for solutions:

  1. Give every player who's completed Worlds missions that grant tokens 90 or 45 (respectively) more tokens per mission completed (and for ones that are in progress become 100 and 50 respectively). That way everyone has more tokens they can use for whatever they want to get from the event, and helps people like myself who don't have money lying around to be able to get things we want from the event.
  2. Make the skin also available in crafting via Gemstones till the end of the event. Gemstones are not cheap to come by, so they hold a monetary value (imo) that would be a nice tradeoff for the skin (I sadly only have 9, one short of 10). That way if some people don't have enough tokens, but have gemstones, can get the skin if they want it. Any chance these would work?

Thank you for listening. Hopefully next Worlds or any other event like this can be less pricey to give a better experience (not mad at you guys). EDIT: I did some calculations (by counting each mission that gives tokens and add 100 or 50 respectively), and without adding what I had (since they would be re-added into the mission reward), I came out with 2,200 tokens (7 missions don't give any currently). Not bad for $0 (considering I am out of money atm), so it would be a big boon for everyone, not just us people who can't afford the pass. Just trying to improve on what we've got currently.

As Mort says https://twitter.com/Mortdog/status/1045079723955507201 [sg-ahri-1]

They confirmed it quite a while ago that you wont be able to get enough tokens for the kai'sa skin without buying the pass or getting orbs. https://twitter.com/Mortdog/status/1044646318767886336

Also you will be able to get the Kai'sa skin with rerolls with the same rarity as mythic. https://twitter.com/Mortdog/status/1044693143088582657

You had quite a lot of time to gather the tokens through games if you brought the pass which isn't too outstandingly expensive imo. There's some statistics on the tweet that show how much tokens you had to earn daily, which honestly isn't too much of a burden. If your late to the party though it could be pretty tough to get your hands on all 2500 tokens, you would have to no life league or buy orb packages haha. Its completely possible to get enough for skins and more from the shop with the time given. I would say its a pretty fair system.

You might not say the event is terrible - but I will. First of all - the icons. The border versus the gold chroma icons were literally the exact same icons with some ugly gold trim around them for the chroma ones. That's just sheer laziness on their side. Then there's the whole pass system - as you noted, the payout you get is massively unstable, and the fact that they've required that you use the tokens you need for a ludicrously expensive skin as well as literally everything else in the event, from Chromas, to Borders, to Icons, to Ward Skins just makes the pass almost useless, because the sheer amount of games you have indulge in is astronomical, especially during a season that's pretty social and work intensive (Halloween, nearing end of school years, not even counting people who work) and it just comes across as really shitty for everyone involved. Like, why the hell do you even buy the pass if you literally cannot afford to buy anything in the event EXCEPT the Kai'Sa skin? And then there's this whole thing of having the event span over 3 separate sections, especially a seasonal one. It's just simply too much, and the fact again boils down to the one currency that you need to purchase any of the content will set you back for the end game prize.

Overall, the event was shitty, and poorly planned. The pricing is way too fucking high, and the payout is way too low. This makes League feel EXACTLY like those awful, shitty phone games that make you do like 10 hours of game time for peanuts. They need to reduce the cost of the Kai'Sa skin, or let token generation extend longer so we can afford what we want. It's disgusting that I paid for the pass, expecting to get things I wanted and the Kai'Sa skin, but am basically limited to the Kai'Sa skin and nothing else.
