With 2018 gone, I'd figure we do a checkup on how many champs we have left to get a lore update

There's been quite a bit of progress since then, and I think it appropriate to revisit the list of who has yet to be updated. We're getting closer and closer, the end is in sight folks!

To qualify for this list, you simply need to lack an extended bio. We're now at a point where the majority of champions have reached this point. Note that a few of these, like Jax and Cass, are in the weird position of having a short story but no extended bio. In a few of these cases, like Vel'Koz, these short stories can change as the character receives updated lore.

I'm not counting Kayle/Morgana on this list, as I know they and their updates are coming very soon.

These two don't really count, but as their bios were created at the very beginning of the lore revamp, they're very short and could do with a bit of detail in my opinion

If we're going by champs left to be updated by region, it looks like this

Freljord: 10 Bandle City/Yordles: 8 Noxus: 4 Zaun: 2 Demacia: 3 Void/Icathia: 6 Other: 5

In total, that's approximately 38/142, which equates to about 27% remaining. We've only got about a quarter left. At the end of 2017 for example, there were approximately 73/139 champions not updated. This means that Riot, in addition to adding 3 champions, updated 35 champions in 2018.

Assuming Riot maintains this pace, we will see the lore revamp completed by early 2020. Just a little more patience guys, we're almost at the end of a long road.

Ashe's will probably come when last comic issue appears. Maybe Sejuani will as well? Lucian tho? Just checked, his lore seems up to date... He even got a story recently!

I'd almost count Ashe as getting a lore update with her comic.

That said, this list also has a lot of characters that fall into one of three categories:

Need total overhauls (Fiddlesticks, Sona, Shaco, etc.) because they have little-to-no lore presence.
Need updates but have some prexisting stuff that works ( Volibear, Jax, Bard, etc.)
Need slight modifications as they work very well but need a little fine tuning. (Draven, Twitch, Lucian)

Honestly out of all the characters listed here with the cast being 27%, I'd say roughly 10% split of each category.

I fell these champions need more attention considering they have virtually no presence in the world outside of the game. Bandle City is the best bet for the next lore update considering we have virtually nothing outside of Poppy and the Ziggs & Jinx comic. The next champion will probably be Shuriman considering Taliyah was last at three years ago. I think the next major event, however, will be probably be Targon considering Morgana and Kayle will likely be from Targon.

Very interesting list, especially if it can be used to speculate on what we might get next year.

Most people think that Chainy McChainface is going to be Demacian, so maybe they're imprisoned by Lucian's order, or perhaps Xin Zhao was the one to take them down and they're in some sort of castle dungeon. Would be a good opportunity to get either of them an update. EDIT: Wait, Lucian's bio does seem up to date. Maybe music is what will have soothed the savage beast, then?

It's highly likely we're going to get a new yordle next year, so that could be the impetus to at least update the Bandle champs.

Riot might do what they did this year and give some of the spookier champs an update around Halloween. Prime candidates for this would be Shaco, Fiddle, Sion, Singed, Twitch, and any of the Void champs.

Frejlord's lore update has been done for 2 years now I believe. It's starting to be shown in the new Ashe comic. The person who made all the Frejlord lore tweeted (or maybe it was a boards post??? I honestly don't remember where he said it) that he finished it a super long time ago but he couldn't release it till now or something. There's a lot of that at riot. I remember a youtuber that got to visit the riot hq said they had pictures of Illoai's god and a ton of lore stuff they have but never show. There's like a whole world they wait super long to release.

Riot said that once Ashe's comic is over, the Freljordian champions will have their bios updated.

Riot have said themselves that Corki's lore is complicated since the existence of helicopters and blimps in Runeterra doesn't really make sense anymore. I'm guessing they'll just make his helicopter a hextech machine or something, and erase other traces of aviation from his splash art.

Really curious as well to see what they do with Alistar and Malphite. Minotaurs don't really exist in the current lore, and nobody knows what the hell the Monolith is.

I honestly think Nidalee needs more depth to her lore. It simply says that she's a girl who got lost in her jungle and magically gained the ability to turn into a cougar once she joined a family of cougars.
