So when are we getting a lore update for Sona?
She basically has no real story at the moment, and was left out of the Demacia update. Will she be in the Ionia update or is there more for Demacia planned in the near future?

I doubt that she'd be part of the ionia update.
They said that this year we're going to get more faction updates,but the ones that we'll get will be smaller.
I mean just look at the Noxus update.
They only gave Swain a full bio update and besides that we only got 3 bio updates for the most iconic and important noxus champs 
),these 3 didn't even get color stories(which I'm actually ok with,as the bio is more important in my opinion)
The ionia update will likely follow a similar pattern. We'll get a full lore update for Irelia,a small story and some other lore updates for the most iconic and important ionia champs. They surely won't update Sona,who is still primarly a demacian,in this ionia update.
Overall she'll most likely get her update when they return to demacia,which will eventually happen,but I doubt that it'll be this year.
That's actually a good point. Sona doesn't really fit well into Demacia anymore, seeing as how Demacia now hates magic. Never really crossed my mind that she was left out.
Why is this getting downvoted? Like, come on Riot, Sona needs at least a post-retcon appropriate VO update.

That, and like the only "lore" we have for Sona is the now irrelevant reason why she joined the League of Legends (her "judgement" or whatever), and whatever the backstory is for Pentakill now (even though skins are now "alternate universe" and not "canon").
