It's certainly one of the story arcs I'd be most interested to see continue, although I'd be perfectly happy to see it focus on character development and interaction rather than giving us real answers.
The JoJ (Journal of Justice) was an in-setting newspaper of sorts which was used to tell on-going stories, deliver editorials and opinion pieces on events and ideas in the world of Runeterra, and even occasional had Champions answer questions from a few lucky Summoners. It was far from perfect, with a lot of its ideas having little meat on the bones, but it existed as a regular - approximately monthly - window into what was going on in Valoran and served to give us a few plotlines that advanced far more meaningfully than anything Riot has done since.
The retcon, introduced on the Dev Blog here, was the narrative/lore department's decision to remove the Institute of War, Summoners and Valoran's 'League of Legends' from the setting, with the game itself now officially having no bearing on anything in the world of Runeterra. Rather than games of League of Legends representing something within the setting, and the players literally playing the role of Summoners, the game now has nothing to do with the story behind it beyond featuring the same characters. It was a decision that instantly removed what had been one of the core parts of the setting, and arguably the glue that held everything together, and still hasn't really offered anything to fill that hole.
