Here is the Syndra story! Name is changed from the Dreaming Cave to the Dreaming Pool.
I dont really like her story, it felt like it was just written for the sake of making her a villain more than anything.
She has a tragic childhood with a ...abusive? Mother and a brother who seemingly bullies her for no reason and his friends are in on it too.
Then during one such occasion she awakens her power filled with the immense negativity from her poor abused life so far, causing some kind of spiritual holy tree to die and she is promptly exiled with her family.
That family fears and hates her and eventually dumps her on an island monastery with a monk who tells her that he can help her find control and peace.
But as time goes her power itself weakens instead and the monk interacts with her less and less, when she finally confronts him about it it turns out he had been suppressing her as he in essence was scared and felt inadequate as a teacher for her.
Naturally she felt pissed, her own teacher, the one fellow who had promised to try and care for her actually went behind her back and used magic on her without saying a word.
Of course she feels betrayed, and so all her suppressed negativity just explodes and kills him, and she drains the island itself of magic the entire land itself suddenly goes "deus ex machina" and opens up a giant hole, pulls her down with magic roots and traps her in a magic pond and makes her sleep to stop her rampage.
And what then? It makes her have nightmares of all her worst times forcing her to relive all the bullying and negativity, over and over and over again........if she wasnt broken by now then to make sure, and it keeps her alive during all that as a extra service.
Then she lies there for hundreds of years with those nightmares, and when is awakened she finds out someone is trying to strange her to kill her because they were scared of her, which enforces Syndra´s own idea that her people hates her guts and they can never get along.
Two others are there, one calls her a monster and wants to kill her as well, and the other actually wants HER to help him and the people fight off noxus, same people who put her through everything.
So naturally at the end of all this she is this hyper dense bundle of negativity with feelings of betrayal, disappointment, loneliness&abandonment and naturally hatred.
To me it all just feels like a giant plotmachine to make her as antagonistic and kinda one sided as possible, her old lore wasnt so great but at least she had a lot of potential for growth or interactions but now she is just completely outcast and set in stone mostly.
The most we cant expect from her is that either someone comes along and makes all her bad feelings go away magically, or something on the lines of her making a sneaky expedition out of her place and finding a kid who remind her of herself and she decides to pick that kid up and takes them back with her.
Kinda like how Zed picked Kayn up, and with this she only really has like....3 possible endings.
1&2 She becomes the evil villain to the end and either dies or succeeds. 3. She encounters someone or something and eventually finds happiness.
And those are all there is to her........sometimes more conclusive storytelling isnt the best, leaving possibilities leaves more to imagination which can be more fun <,<
im disappointed that they just make syndra into a generic villain maybe they will fix it like they did with Karmas story
she also got a new bio https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/champion/syndra/
"Each of them knew their target, and each knew the precise layout of the fortress, for it had been their own people who had constructed it. The Noxians were merely its current occupants."
Something about this specific paragraph feels off. Almost like "The Noxians were merely its current occupants" is an incomplete sentence or thought. I mean, just "The Noxians were merely its current occupants" by itself makes no sense. What are the Noxians occupying? What is this "it"? A semicolon would've made more sense between the "it" and "The" instead of the period. It's like the writer used the period to avoid a run-on sentence or even knows of the "two sentences at least for a paragraph" kind of rule, but sacrificed the two sentences relations to one another.
There's also another option to fixing the paragraph. Replace the "its" in the second sentence with "the fortress'". That'd tell us what the Noxians are occupying and what "it" is. This option probably is better than just using a semicolon, as you're still in the "two sentence" rule's requirements and the second sentence can stand on its own.
Before anyone goes "grammar nazi". Yeah, sorry about that. Was known for being a pretty effective editor back in my college English classes.
Oh, also, they have an unnecessary "a" in the next paragraph.
Is that Soraka at the end of the story? Can we expect new lore for her too?
