So it was teased that Hecarim is on Kalista's hit list. When those champions had the smoke fog on their pages? I always wondered about this. Is Hecarim originally from the Shadow Isles too? Seems likely since the spirits on the altars respect him. So Hecarim is from old Shadow Isles too huh? Well, lets look at Kalista's and Hecarim's weapons. Don't they look similar? Maybe Hecarim was one the the few who betrayed Kalista. Maybe he was the one who did the final blow. I mean the black spear with theirs does look a lot like each other.

Thinking about this, my personal image of what happened when Kalista was killed; The Ruined King, lost someone dear to him recently. For maybe a month he grieved, then it pushed him to turn to necromancy. Seeing how his mages are the one who performed the ritual, this mean that they already knew of necromancy. When the final preparations we're near complete for the ritual, Kalista feared this would be a very bad idea and decided to stop the Ritual. The king was against this and ordered his trusted warriors to handle her.....or maybe them. Kalista says "Back to Back we stood." So it wasn't just her. Maybe Kalista had a group with her who also wanted this to stop. Hecarim was probably with her in her group but he could of been playing along. Because he shows he has a good sense of loyalty....for the king. Kalista and her group fought and when Kalista was near death, Hecarim stabbed her in the back. The one spear that sticks out the most in her back..

I believe this is why he was listed with LeBlanc and the others. But I'm just theorizing here. I just want to know the connection between them two.

As you said, I recon that Hecarim was the one who killed Kalista. I mean not only is she after him as hinted by when the champion pages for several champs including Hecarim were clouded by Black Mist, but if anything, Riot specifically used Hecarim of all champions to demonstrate her ability usage in her champion spotlight, as they've done before with Yasuo and Riven, Jinx and Vi, Azir and Xerath, Rek'Sai and various Shuriman champions. The black spear imbeded in her chest is possibly Hecarim's own weapon from when he was alive.

I personally think that the Ruined King, whoever he is, sought a path that led to the Shadow Isle's corruption, and he probably resorted to it due to Mordekaiser. Hecarim was his trusted knight and Kalista was another loyal soldier. Kalista didn't agree with the plan, and when it came down to the wire she tried to stop the whole affair, only to be killed by Hecarim. The two were then raised as un-living monstrosities to fight for a new cause.

I'd like to imagine that Morde actually twisted Hecarim in to his current appearance, but that's its own discussion. Either way the whole affair's really tragic, because Hecarim, like the King, was only doing what he believed was the right thing to do. None of these guys did what they did without regret in their hearts.

Except Morde, but he's a BAAAAAD man. Or thing. I dunno.

As far as any Shadow Isles lore, I don't give a damn.

Mordekaiser most definitely had a part in it as well seeing as he stated as the "first undead". Whether this means he is the one who caused the king to spookify the SI or if he was the first revived is unknown.

The connection is probably linked to Morde as well so without him their story would make little sense.

I kinda doubt that Hecarim was responsible for Kalistas death.

Sure he also uses a staff weapon, but he uses a mix of a spear and a halberd, while kalista uses rather slim spears(and she got several stuck into her back),so I doubt there is any connection in terms of weapons. Also I am sure that if Hecarim was the one who betrayed her, then she would have a special interaction for him,I mean she got special interactions for many betrayers, people who are out to get vengance and even karthus, but not a single line for hecarim.

Kalista is the spirit of the vengance, everyone who betraid someone was in a smoke.

Hecarim betraid Mordekaiser.

read his new lore "Hecarim led the ruined form of the king to the center of the magical island, where he met with its guardians and demanded their aid. The guardians offered their sympathies, but told the king his wife was beyond their help. Enraged, the king ordered Kalista to kill the guardians one by one until they relented. Kalista refused and stood between the king and the island’s inhabitants. Hecarim recognized a crossroads in his life and made a decision that would damn him for eternity. Instead of supporting Kalista, he drove a spear through her back and commanded the Iron Order to slay the inhabitants of the Blessed Isles. Hecarim and his warriors slaughtered the guardians until a lantern-bearing wretch finally led the king to what he sought - the secret to resurrecting his wife."
