Kayle lore

So they're going to update Kayles lore because she doesn't really fit in with... Anything that's going on right now and man am I worried. I really like Kayle and think she's great but I don't want her to end up an aspect like Zoe. I really don't know what's going to happen to her. Anyone have any thoughts? I'd like to see her maybe in the shadow isles; party because that is an almost empty area with loads of potential, and partly because they're all about death and the undead so it's be a good dichotomy. Please don't tell me she's involved with the void or the darkin. I like those story lines so far but I feel she's be out of place. Also are they going to keep all the angel stuff? I hope they do because it's cool but does that mean there are devils too? Or a god? Anyway Kayle looks cool. Kayle

She most likely will be a celestial something like Soraka or a Targonian

According to the map, she and Morg will be associated with Demacia. The teaser image was also called "pretty Targonian" by a rioter IIRC.

I feel like Morg might be part of Sylas's rebellion, and Kayle would side with the crown, although how that fits in with Aatrox's taunts and Targon is up in the air.

I also think she could also have a place as a vastaya or ascended. Maybe its silly, but im afraid that if they try to explain her wings using a devuce besides coming from one of the magical groups already in the story it will feel tacked on only to justify the wings. It might be interesting if she was a vastaya that became an aspect of targon. Idk though

Well, the only information we really have to go off of is the visual aesthetic from the teaser in the Roadmap from August, her being placed (alongside Morgana) in Demacia on the Universe Map, and Aatrox having quotes pertaining to her.

For Aatrox's quotes, I'll also have to bring up his quotes for Morgana, since the two Champions are pretty deeply connected, and Riot's almost certainly not gonna change that much.

First Encounter with Kayle "Let me show you your error, Kayle. You are not worthy of ascension! You, are not worthy of the worms!"

First Encounter with Morgana "You would bind yourself to this realm, Morgana? Fine! Let me show you the ground!"

Killing Kayle "Die, Kayle, knowing your potential will never be reached."

Killing Morgana "You disgust me Morgana. Die in the filth of your bound flesh."

There is an odd schism between the two quotes. Aatrox's words portray Kayle as striving to become something greater, and divine (through Ascension), with Morgana having bound herself to a lower realm, choosing to become something lesser.

That has some really odd implications for the Sisters' future lore, since it seems to depict them as not starting off as equals, despite their previous lore stating pretty much that they were just equal opposites. Angels, fallen angels, yadda yadda yadda.

Them being placed in Demacia, as far as anyone really knows, could just be a placeholder until they're reworked. Or, it could be something like Soraka's deal with her being placed on Targon, but only having the loosest connection to the mountain through being a Celestial.

So, the only really concrete information we have to work with is the teaser from the August Roadmap. A golden sword set against a firmament of stars, loosely coiled around by sleek, dark, magic chains.

The sword looks vaguely between Demacian and Targonian in design, with a closer thematic tie to Demacia (the fullering pattern on the blade suggests some semblance to wings, and we know that Demacia's crest is a winged sword), but from the guard down (or up, but, y'know, towards the hilt and pommel), the visual design kind of stops matching with anything we know.

As for the chains, the visual design looks strongly Targonian, with circular designs (albeit pointed in a given direction, which is slightly unusual) and each link is separated by a diamond-shape. Although, with Aatrox claiming Morgana to have bound herself to (this) realm, I'm doubtful that the designs are strictly Targonian, and may even be Celestial (the teaser does have a starry night backdrop).

There's a lot that I brought up that, looking at it, suggests that Kayle and Morgana might have a divide between them post-update, but, given Riot's aptitude for keeping the Champion's core identity in their updates, I can only say to take what I bring up with a mountain of salt. We can only really know when their update does come around, after all.

Sylas will definitely have some voice lines addressing Kayle and Morgana as they're almost through production and they are from the same region as he is.

Only have to wait

I hope they keep the angel stuff or bring it into the official canon lore in some way or another. We have a lot of evil "demon-ish" characters, so would like to have some angels too.

I actually like how in their lore (although being inferior to current lore standards) are both written from their own perspectives giving each of them their own justification for thinking the other one is wrong.

Just a speculative thought: I wonder if Kayle and Morganna will be normal non-aspect Targonians (trying to keep with the angel idea in a practical way), maybe from another planet they control [Aurelion Sol's lore mentions them being a multi-planet space-faring empire], other than Runeterra. Maybe hiding in secret on Runeterra (Morganna after binding herself to the realm of Runeterra as per Aatrox's voice line) or infiltating (Kayle pursuing her sister for reasons unknown) into places like Demacia.

I don't really know what to expect, still very excited though!

So here's my theory.

We already know she will be in Demacia, to some capacity, and Demacia's crest is a sword that has wings, and low and behold Kayle has a sword that is make out of wings.

My theory is that they found the sword when building Demacia, buried under the petricite forest, just as they found Varus in a well in Ionia, and Rhaast beneath Noxus. It will turn out to harbor the Darkin obsessed with Justice, and sister to Varus, Valeeva. The petricite forest acing as a way to suppress the Darkin, allowing the Demacian army, and/or church, to parade it as the symbol of Demacia. However, with the arrival of Sylus, the Darkin will break free, but when Kayle starts to go a bit crazy from the Darkin, her sister Morgana will step in to save her.

Long story short, Morgana gets run through but instead of killing her, Morgana instead seals Valeeva in her body, saving Kayle's life. However, the Darkin's soul will be fractures between the two sisters. Morgana containing the corrupted essence of the Darkin, and Kayle having the holier than thou ascended god warrior that Valeeva used to be.

Morgana's anger will be dialed up to 11, but she will still be trying to get the sword away from Kayle because she still loves her, coincidentally reuniting Valeeva's soul and allowing the Darkin to come back to life. Meanwhile Kayle is blinded by the light and sees Morgana as another dark shadow to be "illuminated" coincidentally freeing the other half of Valeeva's soul and allowing her to come back to life.

I imagine it will work like Rengar's and Kha'Zix's interaction. Or, if they are allies, it could possible result in Valeeva being the first Co-Op champion. Fusing Kayle and Morgana, like Varus did with Valmar and Kai.
