Something to Note About Aatrox: He Can Drop His Weapon

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's been stated with Kayn and Varus that they're weapons are tied to them almost like an additional organ. If they drop their weapon for an extended time, they basically die from what I've read. Aatrox in the teaser just left his sword over there impaled in some guy while he was off doing something else, which means he has completely dominated his wielder or something similar in the state of his freedom. The new lore for Aatrox might be our first look at what a Darkin can do in their prime.

And yes, while I know his current lore makes him out to be pretty legendary, it's also old lore and never really describes the full extent of what he can do.

That's because unlike Rhaast, Aatrox has completely taken over the body of the person wielding his sword. Kayn says that line while he's untransformed.

Once Rhaast wins their stuggle, Kayn is completely killed off and corrupted. Which would put Rhaast in the same situation as Aatrox.

Varus or Vaarus (bite me Riot) would probably be fine considering the body he's inhabiting is made up of Val and Kai. He's taken then over. So you can assume that it's only dangerous for a Darkin to be let go of when they cannot fully corrupt the body of their wielder.

Well IIRC Kayn's quote is "you will die" not that "I will die." Which seems inherently false given I don't think anyone had the blade when Kayn first received it (I believe some random mook picked it up to defend himself, but he was killed shortly there after). Which implies the blade can be dropped without dying for whatever reason.

Whether or not Kayn would die is less clear to me. I assume Varus would be fine without his weapon as his current body is literally his new body (They weren't always weapons after all). I'd assume the same is true of Red Kayn and Aatrox, that they have become their new bodies. Though I could be completely wrong so who really knows.
