@Riot Are any Characters in Warmother being considered to become Champions? [Minor Spoilers]

Now I know it's really early to make such a request but honestly I'd love to see Maalcrom as an in game support, a kind hearted person wielding dark powers, and just like Leona was a good female addition to tanks I feel like Maalcrom would be a good male addition to a primarily female role of enchanters. Honestly thus far he's probably my second favorite character in the entire comic so I'd love to know.

Alternatively, I know there's a good chance that Grena wont make it all the way until the end of the story but I'd give the world to see this badass grandma in the game to kick ass as a dominant lane bully. her unique weapons and amazing dialog really make me want to see her in game. even her title of the Blizzard and the Lightning sounds so cool and has so much potential for abilities, like her auto attacks having a Tiamat like passive to make her auto attacks branch out around her target in a sweep of ice and snow coming from each sweeping attack of her mighty Axe.

TL;DR I love these characters, their abilities and their personalities so I hope some I really hope they're being considered to be full fledged characters some day.

It could happen!

I suspect for development reasons, it would be easier for LoL to make a new Champion inspired by Maalcrom than him personally. (Meaning if they don't make exactly him-- they have more leeway with silhouette, gameplay kit etc...)

That said, we are riot. Anything is possible. And these sorts of posts absolutely raise awareness that players would like Grena or Maalcrom as playable champs. And its only by saying loudly -- "Make Maalcrom playable!" That papa rito will hear you.

I would love to see maalcrom in the game he is a shaman after all and he does have healing powers aswell as shielding powers and to that he also seems to have strentghening abilities so we may actually get him as a champion.. It would make perfect sense since we all want a shaman and here we have one in plain sight

I doubt they would add Maalcrom or Grena. Those niches are already filled by other champions and no real lore benefit considering Ashe already has a plethora of interactions with champions from the Frejlord. Also, Ashes's mother is dead and Maalcrom might be too.

That being said, they might add an Ice Mage to the game to fill the shaman archetype.

Some characters are better suited as NPCs tbh. If all interesting characters are champs it wouldn't feel like a world anymore.

I read somewhere where a Rioter said NPCs that have true names (not titles) will never become champions. I don’t have the source unfortunately but it was in a thread asking for Tamara to become a champion.
