Why no LoL books

I am just curious why League of Legends doesn't have a series of books. I as an avid reader would quite enjoy books delving deeper into the intricate lore of League. I feel like it could make it a more long term concept than just a computer game. Other game series have been pretty successful in this endeavor like Halo, Diablo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft and so on. I know that it would be difficult and trying to sort out all the intricacies of the lore and set it all in order, but it would be a great way to expand and even tease new characters as well as broaden the horizons of League and bring more fans to Esports. If there will never be something like this or if it's possibly in the works I'd just love to know so that I can look forward to it. Thanks for your time all! Braum I'd love to hear more of this guys exploits and Lucian Thresh these guys' battle.

If anything I don't think that Riot has left much open to write on anymore in an interesting fashion. They are seeking complete control of their medium from what I can tell, and although the addition of Graham McNeil is a promising aspect I fear that their great ambitions will too greatly hamper McNeil's writing. I definitely think that a LoL novel is an incredible option having already written 98k words on the universe myself, but Riot's stance on writing make outside writings hard to make canon especially in such a tumultuous place that the lore is in at this moment.

This was discussed already a few times, basically the reasons for not making books is that: 1.It would seperate the lore. Those who don't buy the books will be left out.

2.It would require a ton of resources that they simply don't have. The lore team itself has already its hands full and seems a bit overstrained,so writing books would make their current position even worse.

The JoJ was discontinued after a lot of people complained it was "too long". The JoJ was like four pages.

The League community tends to ignore the Lore, it wouldn't really sell well outside the Lore community, most likely.

Thanks for the responses guys! I'd still love to see some books, but I guess I can understand the reasoning behind not having them as well.

Several issues:

  1. Riot would likely offer a PDF or an e-reader format instead of a physical book.
  2. Riot's Narrative and Foundations teams have finished the backgrounds of ten champions out of the 127 currently available. There is a huge backlog of work left to do on the old champion lore, not to mention release timing on reworks, new champion tales and any events they wish to do now that they're not required to do so.
  3. Would you focus books on specific champions or on regions of Runeterra? I think it's just as valid to have a "Tales of Demacia" anthology of short stories involving those champions as it would to have the "Scouting Adventures With Quinn and Valor."
