I thought Akali was Shen's pupil the same way Kayn was Zeds. Shouldnt he have some sort of Rivalry especially with the whole hints that Akali is ex-Shadow Order or had past relations with Zed? Shouldn't their encounter go a little something like pic related?

I think that Riot is still discussing Akali's lore for her VGU. I personally HOPE that Akali stays as "One of Zed's former and best students-turned Kinkou member" as that adds awesome relationships with both Shen, Zed and now Kayn. Also, I think that Akali's VGU is going to give her interactions with Kayn, but not the other way around for some reason.
This is actually beginning to be a pretty big problem as they continuously make Ionians. None of the recent main society Ionian champions talk to Akali. Jhin doesn't and now Kayn doesn't. They also don't talk to Kennen either. It's a pretty big oversight to have these champions not have lines for all of Shen's little gang that sneak about counteracting all the evil occurring on the continent.

You mean the nonexistent hints aside from the name "shadow" used on her Title? I guess that all the champions from the Shadow Isles were trained by Zed with that logic.
