In between which stages does animation creation take place?

How long does a single ability animation take to create?

How much research time has to be used to create a champions walking animation? ^ Is it different/harder/easier to animate animals?

Is there a set of generic champion models/animations or do they create ones for each new champion when testing abilities is desired?
