That was beautiful.
I almost teared up reading this. Clearly Ekko greatly values his family and friends. He understands the struggles and tribulations that come with trying to raise a son in Zaun. He understands their high hopes for him, and that he is a symbol of hope for his parents. In my opinion, better than any "parents died tragically" origin. Mostly because it's so goddamn relatable. He has a deep love of family and friendship, and a loyalty to match. He won't abandon his friends, but doing so means he'll crush the only hope his parent's have of him obtaining a more prosperous life than theirs.
Some great work here. This level of emotion not only helps color in Ekko as a personality but also paints more of a picture for life in Zaun. Absolutely beautiful.
