I'm not saying it's Darkin...

"One of those 'holies' is a relic that once belonged to the emperor’s personal spirit-banisher, Carikkan. Looks like he used to bind troublesome entities into inanimate objects, and use them for his own dark purposes."

But it's Darkin.

Or at least Darkin-inspired.

Carikkan probably figured if Targon can turn people into powerful weapons and use them for whatever they want, how can he get in on that action?

An interesting theory, but you have to remember that the Darkin were all sealed away after the empire fell; the whole reason they fought in the first place was for complete dominion over whatever remained... And we know that Azir is the last emperor of Shurima, since the empire doesn't come back until he does.

So yeah, unfortunately, I don't think any of the 'holies' could be Darkin-related, based on what we know of the timeline.
