No one can seriously claim that a player will not know when aatrox is in ultimate. There are a lot of other visuals that go on behind ultimate transformation of aatrox that dont involve the bannered wings.
Don't use this as an excuse to forsake the banner wings in reworked aatrox :/

Like which one? The fact that he becomes pretty big?Well that is rather moot,when he has a Lulu in his team.
Him carrying his sword slightly differently?Thats really not a good indicator and easy to miss in the heat of battle.
Him flying with his wings?Honestly nowadays you could mistake that for a homeguard speedboost.

Really? I don't know what the hell live Aatrox does, aside from leap in the air and dive, so to say people can "VERY clearly" tell when he's ulting in live is wrong. I don't know what his ult does, I don't know what impact it has in a fight, and I certainly don't know when he's activated it.
Let's compare to champions like Vel'Koz or Swain. I KNOW absolutely when these two champions are ulting, and even if I wasn't familiar with their kits, seeing Vel'Koz assume a position and start to spew lasers and seeing Swain fly into the air on demon bird wings is enough notice to stay the fuck away from them. They have clear, obvious ultimate stances they take that immediately tell you shit is about to go down. Live Aatrox does not. Aatrox is such a mess right now, and his kit is so built upon just auto-attacking people that there's absolutely no clarity as to what he's doing unless you've killed him and triggered his bloodwell or he's fly-diving away from you.
They changed his wings because they want you to buy skins
To be honest, it looks more practical. With new Aatrox leaping in spinning himself and his greatsword in the air, I think it's a good choice to remove the banners, they could get in the way. "so why give him wings at all if they can get in the way???" Because he can control his wings. They are a part of him now, so he can move them as he wishes, not like the old banners. And it makes more sense from the lore side, he longer inspires one army to fight another, with him being in the front of the army, carrying the war banners to give them hope and courage, he now insults and taunts all armies to fight him alone, so that he can end the world and die in the process. New Aatrox doesn't need the banners bcause he's not fighting for and alongside an army, he fights for himself, and he fuckin shouts his name before doing so.
doesnt he start flying during his ulti now? and some creepy ass music starts playing? i havent seen TOO much about the rework but i have to say a huge red demon with a sword flying around raping every1 to a jason soundtrack seems to clear things up for me.
