Prestige Skins are have lost their value already

When Prestige K/DA Akali was revealed I thought the prestige was only for the K/DA skin lines since it makes sense as like special outfits and part of eSports (Kai’sa with Worlds and Akali with All Stars). Now with Prestige Blood Moon Aatrox being revealed, it really just doesn’t make sense right now and now it’s just losing their value and it hasn’t been a year yet.

Riot as much as I love your art department, please reconsider making Prestige Skins, as much as it’s rarity on getting it, making too much just ruins the speciality behind them.

I actually want them to create more prestige skins but then again I’ve always been somebody who likes grinding. I do agree though that prestige blood moon Aatrox is a massive drop in quality/value given that they only changed his color scheme instead of the overall look which should not be encouraged. At this point prestige skins will simply become more expensive, hard to obtain chromas.

I am honestly 50/50 on this. I do know people want things that are rare or exclusive. But at the same time I want constant new things developed. Honestly, for me I'm more towards being okay with Riot continuing to create more and more content. At the same time I understand you and everyone else feeling this way.

...Why would they make a new type of skin and then limit it to a small skinline? Especially when they introduce it as a new type of skin altogether - a special, limited-edition visual upgrade to a given skin.

It may just be me, but that makes little to no sense. They wouldn't create Prestige skins if they were only going to limit it to K/DA or E-Sports themed stuff.

Now with Prestige Blood Moon Aatrox being revealed, it really just doesn’t make sense right now and now it’s just losing their value and it hasn’t been a year yet.

How is it losing its value? How would it make sense for a new skin variety to be exclusive to one or two skinlines (K/DA, E-Sports)? In fact, let's look at Riot IAmCarlos' introduction to Prestige Skins:

What are Prestige Edition skins?

Prestige Edition skins are meant to be collector’s items - rare and hard to get editions of a skin. Our goal is to make them instantly recognizable as a special edition for you to show off to your team and opponents.

Why are you making these?

With Prestige Editions we’re striving to capture the the “cool, rare” skin feeling, but without withholding the base skin. Some of us have had the experience of playing a game and seeing the elusive Young Ryze skin in the loading screen. This is one of the rarest skins in the game. It doesn’t have the most features or effects, but everyone knows it’s a rare skin. It’s cool if you have the skin, but if you’re a fan of Ryze that wasn’t able to pre-order the retail collector’s edition, then you’re out of luck. Prestige Editions won’t be this unobtainable, but they are going to be hard to get. This allows players that value rarity/exclusivity an avenue to show off their collection while still giving people who love the thematic the ability to engage with the normal content.

How is this different than a Chroma?

Unlike Chromas, Prestige Editions are more than a simple color swap. They’ll have some features that are different from the base skin that could include things like unique ability VFX, model changes, an exclusive border, and special splash art.

So, Prestige Edition skins are meant to be special, collector's-edition variants of a skin with unique VFX and other such stuff - made difficult to obtain, but not an exclusive "nobody else will have anything like this ever" kind of deal.

Blood Moon Aatrox (PE) did not somehow decrease the value of Prestige Edition skins or decrease the amount of sense it made for the skins to exist. The skins still make sense, and they're still going to be rare/difficult to obtain.

Riot as much as I love your art department, please reconsider making Prestige Skins, as much as it’s rarity on getting it, making too much just ruins the speciality behind them.

Is three already too much? I never would've thought I'd hear someone actually asking for less content.

They were never prestigious. There is more prestige in victorious skins that there is on prestige skins.

Prestige skins are a cash grab.

prestige skins are an incentive to spend more or get the season ticket and play more during events.

How does making more rare skins dilute their value or rarity? They're still hard to get, and fairly limited in wide range availability- and even in Hextech they have the stupidly absurd rarity of Mythic, which is one step below Ultimate - so they're not "inundating" the market or losing value on account that you still have to work at it to get them or hope for incredible odds. Making a diamond ring doesn't immediately degrade or devalue every other diamond ring.

For people who don't give a shit about the KDA skins, having another Prestige option to strive for will excite them. Prestige skins are new, so they're obviously going to have to release more of them to get the ball rolling to establish rules for obtaining, what works, what doesn't work, etc.

The skins pretty good, but the sparkles need to go and they need to make changes to the prestige skin to give it some upgraded model from blood moon aatrox
