Why aren't we getting new simple skins anymore?

Now every skin released is 975 or 1350 and have new VFX, SFX, recalls... Even old skins that didn't have all these are being upgraded as fuck when their champions receive visual updates (hello Akali).

I mean, shiny new effects are cool but... Why does everything new have to be this complicated? Academy skins have only new models and they are still excellent skins. I can't remember when were the last time we had skins that were are simple as that.

I guess the main reason is that these skins don't sell as well as high quality skins but still I miss getting these.
