The concept of a monowheel is fairly old as you can see (Hemmings got a patent for it 1869) and became a pretty common trope for science fiction and steampunk thematics. Just because you saw it in Star Wars the first time does not mean they invented it.
The concept of a monowheel is so old, it is free to use for everyone nowadays and that has nothing to do with "someone stealing it" or "copying from another franchise".
