Why is Pantheon left handed?

I just noticed that Pantheon holds his shield with right hand. A spear doesn't have a guard so what is protecting his heart, vital organ? I dont know his new lore yet but that's basic shield usage. i think the designers didn't think this one all the way and should swap his hands maybe.

Most left handed people are left handed because they are left handed.

Why does everything have to be explained when some things are just things that happen when you exist?

Your dominant hand should hold the weapon, not the shield. If Pantheon is left handed, then it makes sense that he would hold his spear on the left. Here is a post from History Stack Exchange.

Also, our heart isn't literally on the left side of the body. This is basic human anatomy, but just to be clear:

Everyone has their heart in the centre of their body, with most people having it slightly to the left. Wielding a shield on the right would protect you just the same as wielding it on the left.

Maybe Pantheon has Situs inversus, so his heart is on the right side of his body.

Someone spears you or whatever on the right side, you're not going to be happy, either, even if it misses the heart. Surprise, your right lung is hit, guess you'll just not be breathing now. If you're a switch hitter, sure, maybe protect that organ a smidge more, if even that makes sense. Otherwise, choose your dominant hand for your spear thingy and kill him now.

And why do you refer to him being "left handed" and then say everyone should be shield on left hand? Isn't he just "doing it wrong" at that point? Seems like even you acknowledge the weapon should be in the dominant hand.

Shield is usually on left hand is because most people are right handed as the statistical majority. Thus right hand weapon, left hand shield. Yeah sure we had all sorts of superstition with left hand before so we tried all sorts of ways to "correct" left handers, but it still wouldn't change the fact dominant hand wields the weapon and off-hand wields the shield is the universal rationale of using a 1hand weapon+shield. So in Pantheon's case, it's just that his left hand happens to be the dominant hand.

It's got nothing to do whether your heart slightly tilts to the left or right when it comes to using the shield. It doesn't matter because if you actually get impaled or slashed open you're dead regardless, especially in medieval times.

Shield is used to block damage, period; not just the damage to the heart. This is especially true to the case with Pantheon whose weapon choice was historically supposed to be used as a part of a infantry phalanx formation, that has a very strong emphasis on defence.

Some theorize that the trait of left-handedness has survived because it originally provided an advantage in combat due to the person being able to assume an unorthodox stance that most people would have less experience dealing with. Since his lore states that he destined to battle in the first few sentences, it might be a reference to that. I can understand him wielding his shield in his left hand if he was a defensive fighter but since Pantheon is known as one of the most aggressive early game champions that are able to snowball the game, I think it makes good sense for him to hold his weapon in his dominant hand. And besides, by holding a shield in your left hand, you expose another vital organ, the liver. He doesn't really belong to an army or group either afaik, so he doesn't really need to hold his shield in his left hand for the sake of a formation. All in all, I think him being southpaw kind of fits him.

He can use both hands, obviously.
