Quilletta or Dacius as a Noxian Necromancy Champion

Let me preface by saying I know not every lore character is automatically going to become a champion (hence people still waiting on Stanwick, Rafen, and Kogs dad to be introduced as champions) at the same time though I believe (if I remember correctly) we got Illaoi mentioned in a short story before her reveal to be an actual champion. So I wanna talk about the possibilities (and flaws) of introducing one of them as a champion.

For those who don't know, Quilletta is a childhood friend of Darius and Draven, and Dacius is her son, implied to also be the son of Darius. If that sounds over simplified and too direct, then go read the comic, I'm not here to give an comprehensive recap.

The way I'm looking at it, going off of how Riot tries to avoid releasing champions that are too similar, i think it could make sense for Quill, or her son Dacius to be released, more than likely in the far off future rather than be one of the next 2-3 champions or something (if one of them is to be a champion).

  • Last Noxian Released was Kled, biggest obstacle as they like to cycle through the regions they come from, and I think they have a few more to go through before coming back to Noxus.
  • Last vengeful spirt type was Kallista, was released a long enough time ago (Going off the assumption that one of them would fit this kind of role)
  • Sion is now the only product of Necromancy from Noxus since Urgots lore was reworked, and well yeah, technically been a while since we seen one of those as well as a result.
  • Might bear some similarities to Riven, save for the fact that Riven wants to return to Noxus one day while Quill straight up rebelled.

While I don't have any idea for what either one of their kits could be, I can imagine the lore going something along these lines. Quill could be acknowledged as still being a valuable soldier despite her disobedience, and they could try to bring her back and control her mind. It could however be stated that she manages to resist the control do to the strong willpower it took to defy Noxus in the first place. Something that could make this interesting asside from the fact that it would be a female zombie, is the loss of an arm in the comic. You could paint her as being so fierce and intelligent of a warrior that she could kick your ass with one arm tied behind her back, or rather not being attached anymore.

In the case of Dacius, who we know much less about since he was only mentioned and never seen, this could be a chance to flesh him out. Assuming we follow the theory that Darius is is father, it could be implied that he inherited his fathers natural inclination for war, and deemed worthy to be revived. Now it is both problematic and an area of opportunity that he was decapitated. Far as I know, Leauge has yet to base any champion on a Dullahan (headless spirit from Irish Mythology) and I think it would be a fun concept for Riot to put its own twist on. Imagine this, we know his head was sent back by the Freljordian Barbarians to send a message, and that his body was probably never recovered. Who is to say that isn't enough for a Noxian mage to work/experiment with. Imagine the shock in the look on the Barbarians faces when a headless body (one probably being disposed of via being thrown down a mountainside or something) wakes up ready to fight, and breaks free even from his captors. From there we get a natural process of mixed rumors spreading about a vengeful headless warrior, perhaps finding a horse and riding his way back to Noxus, driven to find his lost head and/or seek revenge.

I'm open to criticism here and I genuinely want to know what people think, and if they have any ideas on how to improve on either of these concepts.

You really expect them to go back in to necromancy after Sion? And on anyone who isn't the Hand of Noxus?

I mean we have so many champs that returned from death, kalista, irelia, mordekaiser, Warwick, Sion, Nautilus all returned from the dead, seems a bit repetitive at this point. Even though I love Quill, I don't think it'd be with making her a champ as a zombie. If rather have Tamara.

I might have been thinking back more towards the old-ish lore when typing this out. To be fair the idea of necromancy far as I could tell was mildly more accepted and commonplace.

Really was just kinda spit-balling ideas off the top of my head here.

The point about cycling through the regions: That would be the optimum in my opinion, but it seems that it doesn't work like that for Riot.

We got 3 champions from Ionia in a row. Xayah Rakan Kayn And even before them, the last champion from Ionia was not that long ago. Jhin

So... while it would be nice to cycle through the regions equally, that's not how it is. The last champ from Freljord before Ornn was Braum, that was 2014 (so: 3 years ago).

I hope that they focus on regions with less champions yet. But according to the given data, another champion from Noxus right now is absolutely possible.

I'd honestly be against the idea, not because I don't like those characters or that you don't make good points, because I do like them and you do make good points, but because revoking Quilleta's death negatively impacts the narrative.

For one, her loss pretty clearly impacts Darius severely, and it would be a blow to his character development if Swain was just like "Nah jk my man I'll just rejuice her up". The knowledge of what Darius' philosophy has wrought, both with seeing Quill die and Invetia being outright inspired to do so via the man himself, is a pretty huge burden to put on Darius that could effect the way he thinks in the future, and I'd hate to see that invalidated.

Also, resurrecting characters in any form of media is kind of a risky move, because if you do it too much, death just becomes...cheap. Nobody worries about Superman dying, for example, because he's going to be back in a month. That's because, in comics, death is cheap and doesn't mean anything. If death doesn't mean anything, every character becomes effectively invincible in the eyes of the fans (so long as they're popular enough), and then there are serious issues manipulating the stakes of the story. Of course, you can introduce drawbacks to necromancy, along the lines of Sion and Old Urgot, but the issue of having the character still around remains relevant.
