Kayn's lore says there are only two possible outcomes to his fight with Rhaast, and they're both really depressing. I say give 'em a third option: Team-up. Kayn gets to keep his autonomy, Rhaast gets to kill stuff. Maybe they take turns with the body.

Bonus points if we tie in the power of friendship, because nothing would be a more satisfying outcome for two super edgy characters than the power of friendship.

More gameplay related than lore but... I would make Janna's Monsoon able to blow away Akali's smoke.

I know it will never happen and it would be stupidly strong on Janna but.... a large part of her character is literally just her blowing away smoke and poisonous gases and the fact that it doesn't in game just... annoys me to stupid levels...

It’s no secret that I hate the space parasites, and the Space Empire, and well everything that has to do with Targon.

If I could change anything I’d go to the original story of Targon, with some modernization updates of course (The Rite of Kor is dumb. It was always dumb.), taking the changes I like.

First, I’d say Targon is a mountain range, rather than a single gargantuan mountain that somehow houses 3 tribes of people, some of which who live at the top but don’t wear shirts despite the cold. I’d fill the mountain range with a lot of various tribes, that behave something like city-states. With the Solari acting as the hegemonic religious power that keeps everyone in check. The Rakkor are just one, admittedly powerful, group, but not near the only one.

I’d go back to making Leona an actually good person, no questions. She can still have her flaws of course, but she wouldn’t be a zealot executioner. Pantheon definitely wouldn’t be a body hopping space parasite.

Start the lore with Leona and Pantheon (rename him if you have to), with the Rakkor. Keep Pantheon’s drive toward perfection, but also traditionalist and arrogant. Keep the trouble with him and Pylas, but have Leona be his only friend.

Make it so that they’re the same age (the new lore is kinda hilarious in how poorly the Pantheon and Leona timelines fit together.) have Leona be the only person who actually tries to be friendly to Pantheon. Have Leona let the monster kid go, as new lore has. Which makes him finding out the Leona broke their traditions a heartbreaking decision for Pantheon to keep the traditions of his people, or his only friend. He chooses his people. They fight, divine intervention. Leona is the chosen one. Leona goes to live with the Solari.

Leona and Pantheon both grow up. Pantheon becomes a soldier, Leona becomes the leader of the Iron Solari (or whatever the elite warriors of the Solari were called, I'm too lazy to look it up). Diana enters the scene as a young Solari who likes the Moon. Have Diana and Leona know each other better. They lived in the same temple after all. And keep up the idea of Leona as the rather matronly protector of the weak. She may think Diana is the Targonian equivalent of some weird Goth kid that pushes everyone away. But she’s going to support the friendless regardless. Add in some feelings about getting it right this time, instead of blowing up in her face like Pantheon and you get some decent pathos here.

Set up the drama with Diana revealing a secondary religious authority on the mountain. Have the Elder’s command Leona to kill her. Leona hesitates, which gives Diana the time to use her own powers to kill the Elders and flee. Driving an actual change in Leona where she sees her hesitation as what caused the death of her leaders.

Now with the religious and political authority of the mountain killed. The mountain basically turns into chaos. Every hostility that was kept under wraps with the Solari Elders in charge explodes. Groups that were already pretty much in power with the Solari stick with them. While those who see the new religion of the Lunari as a means of gaining new authority on the mountain join Diana.

Each of the characters has an arc and central tension they have to work on in relation to the others:

Leona has the tension between her inner nobility, but the guilt of failing her leaders. She may believe that Diana has some points that should be addressed, but also that Diana needs to face justice.

Diana has her new religion and desire for overturning the social order. But she is still at her core a lonely child that just wants people to accept her, and knows she is up against one of the only people that did. And she sees how her new religion is being warped by the other Targonian Tribes to grab power.

And Pantheon is between them. The growing military leader of a faction that needs to decide once more between his traditional belief in the Solari. While also wanting to promote his people to a better position with the new Lunari faction. He also has to deal with his tangled feelings of driving off his only friend of his youth.

New champions can come out to explore the other factions within the Targonian Mountain Range. If I want to really dive into this Peloponnesian War analogue that I’ve more or less built. We got the money faction, the Imperialist faction, the faction of tribes that the Rakkor basically enslaved to allow their warrior culture to flourish. All of which could be represented with a champion to add details to the chaos of the modern situation. And we have an excuse to make a champion based on Alcibiades. And any excuse to have a character like Alcibiades should be taken.

A good healthy dose of political intrigue, war, ruminations on religion, and personal drama. Keep the conflict grounded and focused on the characters. I may be the only one. But I’d definitely prefer that to the empty mysteries of the space parasites.

I would say something about Shurima but it's already perfect. Azir is rebuilding it Taliah will convince Azir through negotiations to do some kind of Magna Carta (like a consitution to protect civilians in case Azir or his descendants go rogue), Nasus is amazing and one of the greatest strategists ever and will most likely train a reformed army of Shurima composed of proffesional soldiers, Xerath is a very interesting antagonist. So what I would change in Runeterra would probably be, remove Targon. Literally fuck Targon. But make it so Ascension still exist and is mostly the same. Just yeet Targon off Runeterra.

I would make it so Lulu lives with Veigar and is helping him do evil, but only the stuff she does is actually noticed by people ala Pinky and the Brain.

Off the top of my head...

Give Kai'sa a... is it still a makeover if you're going for less attractive? Anyway, yeah. More Venom/general body horror, less... whatever she's got going on now.

Put Targon back in between Demacia and Noxus, and make Kumungu an actual official region.

Put Gregor back on the Howling Abyss.

I'd flesh out Mordekaiser's backstory before he took up the Mantle of the Iron Revenant. Also work in metalmancy into his already vast arsenal of dark sorceries.

Redesign Freljord's champs (especially Ashe) to wear actual snow gear. That's been bugging me so much lately.

I would make Amumu a true yordle adventurer who happened to be seeking treasure in shurima so he can become popular, as he was always lonely and seeking for a way to be loved or make friends. Instead of finding treasure he was instead rewarded with an extremely evil curse that forever bound him.

(I just really want him to actually be a cute yordle mummy with ears popping out of the bandages and slapped a story i came up with in 2 minutes)

I would also change Varus to actually look like a Daarkin, all red and stuff. Name him Vaarus. And change Aatrox sword back to being wiggly.

I would state the champion ages, originally riot didn't state how old their champs were, for any of them, except maybe annie pr the demi god characters. But now the new characters are starting to get ages, it would make sense for the rest to get them as well.

For champion changes I would confirm what Braum is. Is he a spirit? Is he an Iceborn? Is he something else? Is he just a man with big muscles and a bigger heart? Just something to confirm how hes been around so long, how hes so strong to lift something no one else can.

And I would update Fiora's animations(give her that recall she should have gotten in her rework) and give her a new voice, it makes no sense shes the only demacian with an accent. As well as tweaking her base splash art a little bit and furthering her story with Jax. What happens after they meet on the bridge and how she reclaims her familys honor. More progression in her lore instead of just the past.

The whole Darkin being Ascendeds thing, scrap it, all of it. These monsters were once 'worthy' of being Ascended. Honoured with great power and because they had trouble after fighting the void they were dictator like because they lost a human Emperor? Did unspeakable things to themselves and the people they were meant to protect? Void excuse isn't enough. These 'immortal' beings that were meant to strike fear in Runeterrans were nothing but men.

If you want then to exists, make them the old lore but different. The place where they were from is the another part of Runeterra as the area we know is only 1/6th. Make them a result of fighting the Void in that area of eons and then they invaded Valoran/Shurima from the West ocean to 'recruit' more warriors. They are a warrior race where you are tied to your weapon from birth as a birth right, part of their soul is connected to it to give them a form of immortality, they can only truely die if both are destoryed. Runeterran's fought back, killed most and those that were too powerful sealed in their weapons. Their entire soul in their weapon instead of part.

I'd make Veigar actually evil with a broken mind. I'd probably make Varus a guy who picked up a darkin bow. I'd have more minotaur champions by now.

Aside from that tbh I'd just flesh out characters who don't really fit into any of Runeterra's "systems." Twitch DrMundo Fiddlesticks Malphite

Their existence in Runeterra is just random. Some are slated for a VGU and will surely be updated at some point, but Twitch won't.

A little late to the party here, but my biggest gripe with the current lore and the one thing that I truly think needs to be changed altogether is Shyvana. She's supposed to be a half-dragon. Her epithet is "The Half-Dragon". Even most recently, Dragon Trainer Heimerdinger called her a half-dragon hybrid. But her lore apparently has her being a full dragon that can transform into a human because...a mage messed with the egg? Really? Literally, "A Wizard Did It"? Some of the later parts of her lore, like her relationship with JarvanIV, should stay, but she should be made into being an actual half-dragon again. Yes, that can give off some messy implications, but if Runeterra can have Evelynn wandering around doing Evelynn things, I don't think an actual half-dragon is much to worry about.
