Rito could add a toggle function to switch forms ingame.
Imagine you have a Diana on your team. You could switch to lunar form to match her appearance and show alliance. or You have a Diana on the enemy team. You could switch to solar form to show rivalry between them.
I think the switching mechanics is exclusive to ultimate skins hence the reason behind making 2 separate skins instead of 1

I would like it if the skin changed based on if you're winning or losing using the same logic for the Swain quotes (he mentions if your team is ahead, behind or roughly even when you recall)
But that would cause a discrepancy between one skin being good and one being "bad" so I see why Riot didn't do it
If this was an Ultimate for Leona they could make it so that you start the game as baseform Eclipse Leona and as your team amasses gold, destroys turrets and racks up kills the radiance in her slowly builds and swells, transforming her closer and closer into the form she takes for a couple of seconds when Eclipse Leona ults (The one with the blazing heraldry that is reminiscent of the God Emperor from 40k lore). In this form she is brazen, alight with righteous fury and affirmed in that she can smite her foes for her faith...
But when you start losing... the light dims, all of her particle effects are dimmer until she can barely muster a spark. She falls into self-doubt, anger and eventually a deep melancholy.

The Light sputters and fades, all is lost, all is hopeless....
