@Riot, I desperately need your help right now.

I have been working with a group of people to crack the code and fit together the pieces of the lore, and it has been going alright for the most part. However, since I was not here for Q&A sessions for many champions, and the roster has been filled with lots of champions, I keep finding myself with many unanswered questions. Let me get to the point as to not take up too much of your time.

I need help from Riot's champion designers and lore team to fill in the gaps. While I do understand some things are meant to be kept secret, I humbly request that, should you have sufficient time, I could get some questions answered on champion backgrounds, environments, cultures, races, and many things that have not been clarified over the seasons.

If you want an example of what kind of questions I'll be asking, here's a few:

  1. Would Bard and Aatrox be enemies? Would that apply to other Darkin/Wandering Caretakers as well?
  2. What physical and cultural characteristics distinguish the Iceborn from regular Freljordians?
  3. Since the Journals of Justice were more or less declared non-canon, what happened to General Marcus Du Couteau? Any clues?

For those who are looking at this post, I would appreciate it very much if you could at least upvote it as to be noticed by Riot. Thank you for your time!

EDIT: Edited Question 1 to be more accurate and inquire about the existence of other beings like Bard.

As for number three, I don't think it's much of a question without the JoJ. Marcus Du Couteau isn't really that important now that he has no lore behind him. He's like the ancestors of any champion; they lived, they died, and have no effect on the course of the game or its lore.

Also, I kind of wish things weren't kept secret. It makes it really hard to know if Riot has a plan for the lore post-retcon or if they are just purposely leaving it vague because they don't know where they want to go with it.

1.Not necessarily,Aatrox mostly turns wars into a massacre and changes the tides of war,but Bard wouldn't care about the power struggle between nations as long as they don't threaten the cosmic balanace,so he wouldn't care about aatrox unless he helps a side that could disrupt the cosmic balance.

2.Well Lissandra has her blue skin, but that might be unique to her.Iceborn are immortal and probably have ice powers.Culturally they are the same since the iceborn are also freljordians

3.Not really, though it is likely that he went into hiding to find out some stuff about swain.

Iceborn were made from True Ice, I think. They're immortal, and, if Braum and Lissandra are anything to go by, have ice related powers.

Aatrox interferes directly into human wars, while Bard couldn't give a rat's ass about human affairs unless they're interfering with cosmic powers. In fact, Aatrox and Bard might actually be good "friends". Aatrox appears to the faction that is losing, and carries them to a swift and bloody victory. This ensures the losing power doesn't try to use any sort of magical ICBM in desesperation and the winning party gets ROFLstomped too hard and too fast to use their own world-shattering KABOOM devices. Bard might actually LIKE Aatrox because his appearence saves him a lot of trouble.

Aaah, Marcus Du Couteau. I wrote a fanfic with the old bugger as my main character. Most interesting non-champion in the old lore. I too wish to know what happened to him, or if he even still exists. @Riot, could you?

I could probably have an answer for number 1

Aatrox is said to have a lot of influence in the wars of history. Bard is task to revert anything that could possible destroy something in the future. Such as when he took the egg that Noxus was trying to obtain for power. Noxus having that powerful artifact could cause a lot of untold destruction that could change the course of the future.

So I believe Aatrox is an enemy of Bard because he too can influence the Future. A war that meant the destruction of one group could change thanks to Aatrox. And that could be very dangerous to Bards task.

Aatrox changes the course of history. Bard reverts tragedy so that the course can stay the way it is.

Edit: Wait a sec where did u get the Aatrox is bards enemy?

Bard and Aatrox are rather confusing.

Aatrox, despite his horrifying effects always chooses the weaker side of the conflict. He helps the underdog win, but at the cost of remembering the atrocities they committed. He probably doesn't care, he just wants to see people fight. Which makes me wonder why he doesn't seem to prolong wars for as long as possible. Or start them.

He should have major influence on many of Valoran's nations. I believe he is hated in Noxus due to empowering an enemy to bring them down, but what of Demacia? Justicar Aatrox feels like a Demacian view of Aatrox, and while the justicar line isn't cannon I think Riot has said that Aatrox has looked different in the past or is remembered differently by different cultures.

But what of places like Mt. Targon, Shurima, Ionia, and the Freljord? Mt. Targon revolves around warfare, so there should be obvious connections. Shurima...that's a big confusing one. If Aatrox had experiences in Shurima, then Nasus and Renekton (Mostly Nasus now I guess) would know of him. Perhaps he was the reason Nasus and Renekton Ascended?
Ionia I don't think deals with warfare often, and the Freljord is practically begging for him to make an appearance.

Is he an enemy to Bard? I'd imagine he and Bard are not on, "kill on sight" terms. Bard doesn't go around preventing wars, he/it only tries to keep cosmic balance in check. If Aatrox threatened that balance then they'd probably clash.

Or maybe Aatrox is needed. Perhaps his actions help fix the cosmic balance, making sure one kingdom/empire doesn't over expand. Maybe he is not even aware that he's doing this, drawn to battle on instinct alone. What if Aatrox is nothing more than a cosmic puppet pulled by strings?

  1. Why is Bard listed as one of Aatrox's enemies?

This is one I'd like to know.

  1. He's not. There's no where that Bard is listed as Aatrox's enemy. Are they? Perhaps. Is it something documented? Nope.

  2. The main physical differences are bodies with a composition similar to ice, incredibly strong magical potential relating to ice and immortality. Other than that there aren't any obvious differences that have been elaborated on yet. The culture of the Iceborn was likely very similar to that of the normal Freljordian humans since the Iceborn once were those humans, but as they built things up they likely got some Frozen Watcher influence in there.

  3. I dunno. Presumably he went in to hiding due to Swain and Leblanc's activities in a gambit for his own ends, but other than that I couldn't tell you.
