Relation between the Ascended and Aspects (Theory)

Aspects of Targon (not the hosts, like Diana and Leona, but "Moon" and "Sun") ascended to their godhood and stepped into celestial realm by Mount Targon. That's what I know. If it is so, I would like to read their history, beginning of everything and beyond.

Whatever, that's not the main reason of this thread.

What we know about the relation between the Ascended and Aspects?

  • It is said Ascended and Aspects draw power from the same well. What is the well of the Ascended? the Sun. That could mean Aspects also use Power of the Sun and merge with celestial energy.

  • But It is also said the difference between Ascended and Aspects is how they use this source of power. Ascended takes some of this well (the Sun) and merge it with their mortal bodies. What Aspects do though is, they go to the source of power!

What I understand from it, Aspects don't merge with celestial energy of the Sun. They actually use it manually. And they are dependent to this energy. For that reason, they need mortal vessels to make their dirty works because they can't leave the Sun. They have carried their home to around of the Sun. They created a new civilization in the space.

TL;DR Aspects drain celestial energy directly from the Sun, not from the Sun Disc. Kinda like Dyson Sphere. Because of that, they can't leave the Sun, and again because of that, they need mortal vessels to make their job for price of some of their power.

What do you think?

I think the same well is just cosmic magic in a really general way.

I also don't believe that the Aspects of the Sun and the Moon are living on their power source, they are actively living with the other Targonians wherever they may be now. This is because, if I recall right, the Aspects led the forces of Targon when they were on Runeterra as themselves, not using any other's body. They use them now because they need bodily sentinels on this planet and as you can soo, some can even take over (Pantheon).

If we want to bring things on trivial level, the Ascended got their power from Targon's focusing lens which is the Sun Disc, their wielding of cosmic magic (which might be something they refined while they were still in good terms with Aurelion Sol) compared to Shuriman God Warriors is as different as the swordsmanship of Miyamoto Musashi and the one of a toddler.

I dont remember being said that the Targonians were humans. Sure that they were living beings that lived in Runeterra, but we dont know their original race... maybe they were Yordles, Dinousaurs or anything else.

I think you’re on to something, but are thinking too small.

The Targon empire had holds across the universe at one point right? So they could potentially have control of multiple suns. The Shurima empire was probably taking sun power as well, but they only saw fit to intervene after Shurima (and the ability to create god warriors) fell. So it might not have anything to do with the resource.

Cool.

They are meant to be an ancient race of spacefaring beings. They can go beyond Runeterra and it's sun, infact they the Aspects are probably not even from Runeterra, Zoe left for a long time, if she was just flying around Runeterra for a 1000 years that would have been a dull time.

Aspects and Ascended take power from the same well - the stars.

Aspects take a whole bunch of power from stars all over the place, while Ascended draw a smaller amount of power from the Sun.

Yes. Targon must have given the Sun Disc to Shurima during the original Void Wars to make warriors capable of fighting the Void. They probably didn't want to have to resort to this but there are only so many Aspects but Ascended can be made as necessary, plus if Shurima fell to the Void, Mount Targon would be next seeing as how Icathia is on the east coast of the Southern continent and Targon is on the west. The situation was dire, so they did what they had to do.

After the Void War, the unforeseen happens and Xerath blows up the Sun Disc (could Targon be secretly involved in this seeing as how the Void is now defeated they might not want lowly Runeterrans being able to tap into the power of the sun?). The Darkin and Ascended start to go to war with each other and now Targon has to step in and clean up their own mess via Pantheon and the aspect of Twilight.

AurelionSol to Diana or Leona in game : "You and Leona embody the same light. Typical Targon redundancy"

Aurelion Sol tells us the Diana and Leona draw power from the same well. Which makes sense, The Moon has no light of it's own, it merely reflects the light of the Sun. The fact that the lowly Runeterrans actually created two opposing faiths ignorant of this is probably hilarious to the space-faring Targonians. One convenient but effective side effect of their influence in Mount Targon as a region; an easy way to consolidate their power.

This goes for all of the aspects, Leona and Taric are the Aspect of the Sun and Stars respectively, but what's the difference between a star we call our own and any other? The only oddman out is Pantheon because he was a cheesy 300 reference Riot wanted to put in their game because back in the day, they didn't care if the lore had any thematic sense and then rolled him up in Targon later because it made the most sense. He is unique in that War is usually not associated with any sort of celestial body like the Sun, Moon and Stars but, also he as a host loses all of his individuality and becomes a husk. My theory on him is that he is an aspect meant to represent the majority of the Targon area, the Rakkorans. Their society is defined by war and Pantheon exists to protect them from the influence of the other Aspects. To make sure balance is preserved? Maybe there is someone up in Targon who is sympathetic to the Mountain dwellers plight? We may find out when Pantheon gets his VGU (pls let it be after Nunu rito)

Diana is probably aware of all of this and wants to prove to Leona that they are being fucked with on a cosmic level. But she needs solid proof... which explains her "journey". If her and Nami eventually link up they may be able to get to the bottom of it with the whole Moonstone subplot.

What I am getting at is that it's all connected because it makes sense. Stars are the central pillar of life and quantum physics. Literally everything revolves around them. (Literally lol) Stars are life, they give sustenance to plants, animals and sentient life and form, through their gravity, planets that we live on, even all matter came from Star Dust. (think about that even the atoms that make up your body was at one point part of a star!) The only thing that isn't connected to stars are black holes. The literal anti-thesis of stars. If stars give life and light sucking black holes eat all life destroying what the stars create so that the universe doesn't get too full. It's all part of a natural cycle.

Targon is represented by the Stars so their enemies must be represented by the opposite: black holes. This is where the Void comes in (to a lesser extent the dark star skins as well even though they aren't canon). It's a literal struggle between entropy and creation. Aurelion Sol is the entity who created the stars but he wouldn't have created the only thing capable of destroying his creations. He loves stars too much, it's the reason that he obeys Targon even though he is so powerful: because they leveraged his stars. So SOMETHING else made the black holes and by extension the Void.

Swain after picking up Aurelion's soul fragment: "What is this about... siblings?"

It's going to be interesting boys

(there's more proof that it's all one system now that the Darkin are Ascended who draw the power from the stars they also control host in the SAME way that an Aspect of Targon is controlled but I've already typed more than enough. )

tl;dr it's ALL connected as part of a massive system. Targon and the Void, Ascended (their newfound Darkin counterparts) and Aspects, Stars and Blackholes. Entropy and Creation
