it just seems weird to me that only one of the two skins gets a special item interaction.
It's part of his personality. A lot of GKG's interactions are superficial -- he's yelling at other gods, anything with godlike power, humans with the word god in their name. Darius on the other hand has specific interactions with his lane matchups, because he considers those actual threats worth his attention. That's why Garen has general item lines -- everything is an artifact, everything is a relic of his holiness. In his eyes, anything he touches is instantly a vessel of his power worthy of song and legend.
Darius, meanwhile, has only two interactions: black cleaver, which is literally his own axe (used to kill kings/gods), and titanic hydra, which mows down crowds of lesser soldiers. Nothing else remotely matters to him.
by the way, did you guys draw inspiration from warhammer 40k with those skins?
it seems like garen is the emperror, and darius is horus.
