Kai and Valmar have a music video, story, comic and yet Rhaast has nothing.
Kai and Valmar aren't even essential for Varus' character and yet they get so much content for them???? WHERE IS MY RHAAST LOVE?????

Comparing apples to pears a bit?
The hosts are ultimately more interesting as humans than the Darkin are individually (besides
of course)
They're bloodthirsty warlords that got locked up in weapons thats' really all we need to know. How many unique motivations for each individual Darkin does Riot need to make?
Rhaast was Ascended he slayed some mortals, herded the rest like cattle, fought against his brethren, contributed to the near destruction society in Valoran and Shurima etc etc. They all kind of did the same thing back then.
The interesting bit is how they influence their respective mortal hosts.
If anything I'm more dissapointed the relationship between Kai, Valmar and Varus isn't explored in game via voicelines. Something Riot really needs to get on.
As a rule going forward Darkin who directly control their hosts and destroy their consciousness will probably get the character development, while not so autonomous Darkin will be more interesting catalysts to start their mortal hosts down their own character arcs.
Weirdly the second post about this I've seen today. I agree, and I think just a bit of backstory and a bit of development of his relationship with Kayn will make Rhaast seem less one note. Unlike Kai and Valmar, you can actually PLAY as Rhaast and Rhaast alone, which to me means he's as much of a Champion as Kayn is.
I'd like to know what he was like before his Ascension, and how he earned the right to be Ascended: they didn't Ascend just anyone, it was usually someone deemed "worthy". Was he turned bloodthirsty by the horrors of the Void wars in Shurima? Or maybe he was bloodthirsty all along, and his Ascension or subsequent events just emphasized it? Both could make for some interesting stories.
Drawing parallels to Kayn is going to help Kayn's character more as well. We already have two characters struggling for control, two characters who value violence above all else, and are strangely similar. Exploring this could give us one of the best pairs in League. I don't feel that potential with Varus, at the moment. Kayn craves validation, and the only way he's found it is through violence; he was recognized by Zed as a great fighter, the only affection he's ever gotten (Noxus sent him to die). This has given him a pretty twisted view on things for someone so young and this could be explored through his relationship with Rhaast, another individual with twisted views that has seen centuries-worth of wars.
I'm pretty sure its the other way around...
