Totally disappointed with the Darkin lore.

This is going to be mean, but honest. The story of Aatrox and him being stuck in an endless darkness was amazing and so well writen. I loved his endless hope for freedom. So good. That being said, the Darkin lore is a huge let down. It's cool that they were trapped and all, but Seriously, not everything needs to be a damn Ascended. It's like trying to make everything a fucking Vastaya all over again. You had the chance to do something unique with the Darkin, whether that be to make them into apocalyptic monsters, the horsemen of the apocalypse, or just murderous other worldly entities. But no. They are stupid failed ascendants.

I will now never not see the Darkin as anything more as Azir's sand soldiers. Like literally that is their lore. Azir dies, they go crazy. WOW. All these years of hype and build up to shoot it down so damn hard. Soldiers who failed a coup. Amazing. All I wanted was bad asses who were their own faction, own group, independent of all the Runtera groups, who came in and fucked shit up. We got some animals who got magical powers and because soldiers. So let down.

Edit: The worst fucking part is that they are all basically fking furries. fuckign kill me.

Yeah I'm also a bit disappointed that they are now malformed ascended as I really hoped they'd be something unique within the lore.

Even worse is the fact that it is now pretty likely that the angels are going to be ascended as well(with aatroxs line about how Kayle is not worthy of ascension).

(to avoid any confusions, its not that I think the new lore is bad, just that it is not what I would have preferred)

The new lore is awful. They took a unique race of beings that tested human ingenuity in a mythic war of the past and replaced them with bitchy demigods. It also made them thirsty for power because they're gods and all - yet somehow a human emperor is keeping them in check? How? I'm calling bullshit on this. If they could conquer humanity after the Emperor died, they would have been willing to do it before he died if they're all that arrogant and vain.

I enjoyed the story telling even if the 'lore' part wasn't very good.

The idea of Ascended's meeting, fighting, talking of Nasus like he is a legend etc. All good, if it was animated I would have loved it even if it's only to see these Ascended's in all their glory.

But the result? A bunch of bad ascended? Yeah, no. Not at all. A big let down.

If you wanted that, you have the void. Darkin would be redundant because they're also after annihilation. At least this way, they're created horrors from mortal folly.

With all the recent connections between Shurima, the Void, and Targon... I, too, was hoping that the Darkin would be a unique species. Not Ascended with a different name. This just feels forced and like a wasted opportunity.

Everything seems to be tying in with the above three factions lately, and while that was cool to start off with, the inclusion of the Darkin (and eventually Morg and Kayle) is overkill. The world of Runeterra now feels small and constrained. Shurima. Ascended. Aspects. Void. They feel overused and redundant. The Darkin are a wasted opportunity to liven up the lore with something new.

I was also kind of hoping something along those lines, but I don't think this updated lore is THAT bad. I enjoyed majority of the parts of this new lore.

I expected the Darkin to be from Targon since they are like demons and Targonians angels it would be fun to see that idea in the league universe. But so far im not that sad about this lore change .
