Why are newer skins better than Mythics?

Although opinion based, it feels like some of these newer skins released are better than their mythic hextech crafting exclusive predecessors, I’m pretty sure most could say super galaxy annie is way cooler and prettier than hextech Annie, and the brand new Darius skin is actually nuts and cool as shit compared to dreadnova, and we can easily all agree that project Vayne is vastly superior to kalista vayne(soulstealer).

Why is it that mythic skins are seeing superior skins released at a later date? It can be quite costly if unlucky to earn/receive a mythic skin, and these newer and better skins are instant one off purchases for RP, doesn’t this feel or seem like riot is devaluing players previous purchases? If they released a mythic skin of your favorite champion and then 1 year later released another skin for it that was even more flashy, had better vfx/gfx, and was way cooler, wouldn’t you be pissed as well? Has riot ever even thought about this?

And Incase I’m calling you out on your micro transactions failurescough EA please dun ban me Ritoooo.

Of course more skins on a champion you like is always welcome, but doesn’t it seem pointless to devalue something people worked or paid quite a bit of money for?(again opinion based).

I mean, even anniebot agreed super galaxy Annie is disgustingly better than the hextech one...

I think new skins in general are almost always going to be better than older ones. That's just the way it is, over time Riot has found ways to make skins cooler, more detailed and interesting. I also think that the gemstone skins are more of a status symbol than anything. They're not necessarily supposed to be the better skins, they're supposed to be the rarer skins.

New skins > Old skins.

I don't think Riot deliberately intends to make crappy skins in order to make older skins shine.

Mythic skins are usually set to be roughly equal to 975 or 1350 skins,so of course they are gonna look worse when you compare them to legendary skins like God-king Darius or Project Vayne and maybe even 1350 skins like Super galaxy Annie.

And in general the quality of skins tends to be increasing over time,so it makes sense that newer skins are better in terms of quality than older ones.

You tend to wear mythics or collect them for the sake of rarity, not luster.

A friend of mine managed to refer enough friends to get both Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick before the RAF program ended. Those skins aren't so flashy, but they're near impossible to obtain. Just the sight of seeing an OG Championship Riven, OG Urf Warwick, Victorious Janna and J4 is enough to drop jaws. That's just how rare they are.

Now maybe they aren't as rare as the ones I mentioned but it still gets peoples attention.
