Short cinematics displaying the major Lore bits about factions are the best way to give some resonance and visibility even to less popular champions.

Imagine to witness short scenes of events like the Darkin War, the nowdays Shurima conflict between Azir and Xerath, the resurgeance of tha Aspects of Targon and their fight against the Void spawns, Demacia and the Freljord with their internal turmoils. All of them have the potential to be visually captivating and give some light to aspects of the Lore that aren't being covered now and not letting them fade in the dust.

I don't think that we are going to get one just for the sake of showing a event in history. The whole Ryze thing was to promote the release of the map. And since they were doing that animation themselves it took them 2 years or more to finish it. I guess we could get something like that if there is something bigger coming , like an whole in game event and stuff. Like how the Awaken was to hype up the start of the season.
