Ezreal's update, aftermath

Back when they updated Ezreal's visuals and his W, we got told that this is an experiment to test out if there is benefit in giving us updates focused on visual work, but with minimal kit changes and that Riot will consider to keep doing these in the future, if it turns out to be a success.

Unfortunately, we never got a direct statement from Riot if the update was successful enough for them to give us more of this type of update. I would like to know, since there are some champions I would like to see getting the same treatment in the future, especially these: Blitzcrank Caitlyn

Can we get some information here, please? And what does the community think about this? Was the experiment successful and you would like to see more in the future? Or do you think Riot should completely abandon the idea and focus on other projects?

I can't find the post, but I believe Riot mentioned that they had no plans for any Ezreal-level VGUs as of the moment.

Didnt they rework blitz w and ult passive a while ago? Dont take mw wrong, its by no means an ezreal scale update but it kept him up to date to some extent

This is one of the few times I will defend riot as they have actually taken this ez style update and used it A prime example being the recent malph update, they gave him new visuals and updated his w in exactly the same way as ez

This definitely sucks, because there are plenty of champions who are caught in a sucky middle ground. They don't need full vgus, but they need more than just prettier particles.

I feel like it was a success but at the same time, Ezreal isn't a great indicator because of how popular he is/was/etc. He's essentially a poster-boy and would have been popular even if his VGU had been total utter garbage. Morgana might be a better example (as her kit is 100% the same) but we don't have any idea how that turned out.

Personally, I think that (while I said these two were successful) Riot would rather focus on a few champs who are in more dire need of an upgrade. They've listed out some of the 5 worst (Volibear, Fiddle, Mundo, Shyvana and Nocturne) who are likely high on the chopping block for VGUs. Likewise, once that backlog is a bit cleaner they can add in some smaller VGUs. Bear in mind that a lot of champs who do need that minor VU treatment Ezreal got also feature a fuckton of skins.

In your own examples, Caitlyn has 11 skins (12 w/ prestige) and Blitz has 10. Each has a legendary and while Caitlyn's lego is fairly recent and good, both would still require a decent overhaul to make nice and fresh.

I'd say it wasn't, since they chose to give Morgana no mechanical changes at all.

Although that might just mean they'll be doing more VU's with no gameplay changes at all.

I guess they will do it, but tier 1 VGUs are more urgent and it's not like the turnaround on Ezreal was so much faster that VgU are more appealing.

I get more excited for champion updates than for new champs

It feels like it was a success, right? I mean, what are they judging successes as? I mean, his play rate has definitely increased significantly and they've given him a few skins since the update, so I can't imagine them seeing it as a failure or anything. However, I feel like if they do any more it'd probably be for other popular champs like Lux and Ahri. And yeah, they'd be nice, too, but I want by Blitz VU dammit! Just kidding, mostly. I'd be happy with any VU's.

Viktor's ulti could use a Ezreal style rework tbh.
