Animation, Art and Sound in draft queue super annoying add options to disable
Dear Riot,
I am a returning player. I have just tried out the draft queue. The level of visual clutter and needless "pay attention to me I am super important" visual and audio cues is through the roof.
honestly. It's annoying. It's annoying enough to make me QQ on the forums. Please take under advisement.
My experience of the new queue is that I am either (a) waiting for animations that seeing for more than one time is simply boring, tedious and simply annoying to run, (b) being distracted from trying to think about the game by animations and sounds playing in the background, to the side or in my face ("your ally is now thinking about a different champion" animation, I am looking at you) (c) missing important visual and audio cues (it is your time to ban) because im basically ignoring everything due to my senses being bombarded and (d) making my decisions under duress because at every point where I am needed to engage with the interface, there is a "PAY ATTENTION, PAY ATTENTION, PAY ATTENTION" klaxon alarm setup by your visuals team (which is not helping because it's not any more obvious than the rest of the junk).
I propose the following changes to the interface: These changes to take effect for any player choosing "turn off menu animations / sounds" in the login screen.
all background animations to go static (yes this means the little banners around your role too). all transition animations between "screens" to go away completely. (yes the map getting built and the roles parachuting on top of it has to die) the big picture in the middle of champion selection screen with hero pictures to be removed, including any and all animations and sounds associated with it (can I have the champion roster mini icons back please?). the "10, 9, 8..." sound when it's your turn to be removed (and person that recorded it terminated) sounds that will be in champion selection screen (I.E. no other sounds please):
- champion pick/ban quotes.
- soft tick when someone picks or bans a champion.
- a different tick when it is your turn.
- soft background music.
Please take under advisement.
P.S.
I get that you're trying to put a "this is awesome" visual to the whole menu process. However, since I am going to see this more than once, all your efforts are going to be wasted the moment I already know what's in the box and have to wait for it to open.
Here's a pro UX design rule of thumb from "UX design for dummies", for you:
-> if it's a menu screen, don't animate it. That means the transition between screens too.
