If Zoe and Targonians in general turn out to be on Aurelion Sol level of power...

I'm giving this game a farewell. Entirely. Playing with characters core concepts downgrading the ones Riot doesn't like in favor of new ones/favorites it's plainly disgusting.

Xerath had to be turned from an nealry omnipotent being to a forever chained nuclear reactor because the "plot" wouldn't allow such an overpowered being.

Then Aurelion Sol was introduced and his character built around being something close to an actual god since he created the stars in the universe. And now this new kid has the same power level and can step on him so freely?

Call me pissed off but the only thing keeping my sorry ass here is the attachment I have towards my favorite characters, and seeing them abused like that even in the lore department isn't something I'll give my audience to.

Zoe is the least satisfying character in lore ever.

She feels like a joke. Which I assume she wasn't meant to. She is not Kled.

What is so interesting with 12 years old "I love Ez so much haha <3" girl being equal to Aurelion Sol, or maybe even overpowering him?

We have star forger god-like dragon in one side, and a freaking child with crush issues in another. Both are roughly same.

I really dont like it. Something I didn't like in Marvel happens in LoL.

What she is in real doesn't matter btw, what I see is a stupid girl being equal to Aurelion Sol. Enough is enough.

Such a joke.

Next one is Teemo's girlfriend being Creator of the Universe.

This might be a bad comparison, but for me, the Aspects seem like the Greek Gods while ASol seems like a Titan. Zoe's basically Hermes.

In addition, ASol was almost certainly more powerful than the Targonians when he first met them. Over time, as the Targonians built their empire, they learned knowledge and harnessed powers that are cosmic in scope, leading them to be nearly godlike. Aurelion Sol, on the other hand, hasn't been able to progress his power or knowledge (in the big picture, talking about the universe) at all on account of the Targonians holding his stars hostage. So he's not on his A-game.

Don't know why everybody's fussing about Zoe's arrogance and petulance all of a sudden. Aurelion Sol is pretty boastful and VERY arrogant, so they're both unreliable narrators.

Keep in mind Zoe's treating Aurelion Sol as a house pet for a couple of reasons: A. Her general arrogance B. The Targonians have him on a leash anyway, not much he can do about it C. She's an obnoxious child, why wouldn't she rub it in his face? Zoe's also a prominent TRICKSTER. In a fair fight, it's needless to say that Aurelion would wipe the floor with her.

Let's not make too many assumptions until lore comes out, k?

Cheers, I too think the Targon lore is an inconsistent crapstain.

I'm at least waiting for the Panth rework to go. But, you do you man.

Honestly, I like it. I don't know why Aurelion Sol gets praised like that here in the boards, because for me, he is the worst kind of god I could imagine.

He is arrogant, he is belittling other lifeforms and he takes himself too serious. I don't even like Zoe that much, but for a god archetype, yeah, I prefer her over Aurelion Sol. You don't have to be full of yourself just because you are powerful. Aurelion Sol is always making a show, Zoe just grew into her powers and sees them as normal and has her fun with it.

If you really can't have any other deity on the same level as your favourite character, that's a shame. But I like that they are playing around with Aurelion Sol and remind us that he is not the greatest being in existence.

From what I understand, the Targonian aspects could be as powerful as Sol, but they need hosts to do work in the universe, hosts who can only hold so much power within them.

So the Aspect of the Sun(or solar light maybe? No idea how this works for non-runeterra worlds) is capable of having a shot at fighting and winning against Sol(but can lose against him too), but Leona cannot as, while she is the aspect of the sun, she only has a fraction of the power.

If this is true, then Zoe, an aspect that can open a way into the universe without a host, would have all of her power. Which means she can fight Sol and have a chance at winning(though with all the stars flying about, I doubt it would be as easy for her to do so as she pretends).

And don't forget, Sol is still shackled by Targon. So even if Zoe is close to his power level, but wouldn't have a chance to win in a fair fight... it isn't a fair fight. With the star crown that is his shackle, every action against Targon that Sol makes costs him dearly. It would be like a Matador fighting a bull. In bull fights, the bull is often weakened in some way(ranging from injuries to things to set off its balance and ability to react), just like how Sol's crown kills off one of his stars(which he refers to his hearts) when he acts against Targon.

If a full on aspect, not one of the hosts, could not take on a foe who stabbed themselves with every attack they brought against them, then that would be rather anti-climatic.

As for why they had to trick him, just listen to Zoe's Vo. Would you want to trust someone like that with an important mission if you could help it? I wouldn't. And as presumably all the other aspects have to work though hosts, they had no one who was strong enough(and reliable enough) to subdue the space dragon.

TL;DR AurelionSol - Injured and shackled, does not have access to his full power and kills part of himself every time he fights Targon. LeonaDiana Pantheon Taric - Hosts of Aspects that have considerable power, but don't hold a candle to the full power of the Aspects that they host. Zoe - Full on aspect that has the power to poke herself through dimensions, does not need a host and therefor has her full power. Is childish and irresponsible so she isn't relied upon unless it's necessary

Power levels Sol ≥ Aspects Sol > Hosts Chained Sol > Hosts Chained Sol < Aspects(with the only aspect known to be able to fight him in person and not through a host being Zoe)

TheHappyReaperz11/8/2017, 8:04:28 PM4 votes

That's what happens when you are imprisoned. Zoe is as strong as a weak Asol. However, if Asol was free, odds are he would beat the Targonians.

GreenLore11/9/2017, 1:55:05 AM3 votes

Yeah that bugs me as well, but Helixarrow is making a good arguement when they say that the targonians likely grew more powerful over the eons, while aurelion sol couldn't grow.

Another thing is that its likely that not all targonians are that powerful and while someone like Zoe might be able to beat Aurelion, she might also loose and get killed.

Also we have to keep in mind that even though some Aspects could beat Aurelion in a direct fight,it doesn't mean that they can do everything that he can do. Aurelion could likely do some serious damage to the targonian empire if he used his powers correctly.

And on another note: Xerath wasn't omnipotent in the old lore, his prison limited his power before it could reach its peak, just like it does in the new lore. The idea that he could explode if he got free is essentially something that no one knows about in the new lore and that could have easily happened to old xerath as well.

I hope you have better luck then i did when i tried to quit... seriously, Lol's like a drug and when you get off of it, the ads go after you like crazy.

I mean, I hate the new Targon stuff, but i had a feeling of power levels when Sol nuked a Void gate and killed Pantheon's host. If a supposedly warrior-aspect was killed by Sol holding back.... then this kid should have no chance to scratch him.

I wonder when creators are going to realize that overpowered, unbeatable characters are _boring. _

I honestly want to like Zoe's lore, I really do. I like her character and this different take on a "Trickster" archetype. But they made her a freakin god for no reason. She could have been like the other Aspects, had her own journey to the top of Mt Targon, and she could be ancient if they really want her to be, but she would start as human. But instead she sounds like some 12 year old made her up. "Oh she's really young looking, but actually she's super old, the oldest champion in League! And she's as strong as Aurelion Sol, arguably the strongest champion. She's from Targon too, but she doesn't really care about that stuff! She's just too fun and quirky for that human stuff! Instead she just has a billion quotes for Ezreal and girls, and barely any other connection outside of that. Also she has uh, Fiddlesticks' key! And Bard's chime(you know, that other super powerful omnipotent being?). And the Moonstone Nami's entire character arc is based on! But she doesn't actually care about that stuff, she just likes that they're shiny!" Doesn't it just sound stupid? All of that is, as far as I know, 100% accurate.

I won't make it any secret that I vastly prefer more "street level" characters. I was really happy that this year they stuck mostly to that, with Xayah & Rakan, Kayn and, going a little further back, Camille being pretty grounded. Then they release Ornn, which while I like him, is another god...or sorry DEMIGOD character. I wouldn't mind so much if he hadn't caused Volibear's lore to also completely change. Volibear went from shamanistic, spiritual leader of his people, the Ursine, readying them for the war with the Watchers he saw in a vision, to...God of War? I assume he's still getting ready for that war but it just makes him feel a lot less cool. The Ursine are now just idiots who follow a warmongering demigod, which again, I feel cheapens the race, the character of Voli, and the world as a whole.

"But it's League of LEGENDS" I keep hearing people say. But that's thing; it's LEGENDS, not "League of Myths". Legends can come in many forms, and some of the most compelling Legends can come from hearing about a regular old guy do some incredible things. Mordekaiser was just some human leader, but his ambition was so great that even DEATH couldn't stop his conquest. Yeah, he's pretty ancient and undead, but he started out as a man, and he's even more unbelievably sinister and awesome for it. Ivern was just some Freljord war leader, probably could have been a Champion in his own right, but this tree's magic made him see the world through new eyes and showed that even the most warmongering Freljordian can become a benevolent being for good. These are still LEGENDS about incredible people doing incredible things, some bad, some good, some neutral, but they are relatable and inspiring...like legends should be! And most importantly, entertaining.

Sorry, went off on a rant. I know some people will like Zoe BECAUSE she's a god, but I feel this character could have been improved by not making her stupidly OP and presumably she did nothing to earn this OPness.

Tenth Leper11/14/2017, 4:21:29 PM1 votes

You do realize that nothing any champion says, particularly a trickster goddess, is to be taken as fact?

Riot already responded to this specific lore concern. What Zoe says is not necessarily what Zoe thinks, and what Zoe thinks is not necessarily what actually is.

Emperor of Fate11/14/2017, 9:06:32 PM1 votes

where exactly did everyone get that zoe is the most powerful champ in league without her lore out? the fact that she mocks aurelion does not mean that she is stronger than him..... even if that is true(i doubt it but let assume it) where exactly the problem lies? zoe propably can use advanced reality warp that can even distort dimmensions....a strong character shouldnt always look scary ( looks can be deceivingLeblanc )! i personaly find her design refreshing and her personality fiting for a powerful being....for her our world is just a toy as he would love to see''the end of our finite reality''......
