What makes pulsefire ezreal an ultimate skin? It seems pretty average to me tbh.
All the other ultimate skins have some other effects. Udyr has multiple forms, lux has multiple forms, mf has multiple forms, sona has the music, meanwhile ezreal just has ability particles.
Pulsefire Ezreal is an ancient skin. Comparing it to today's skins isn't a fair comparison. "What makes the plow such an important invention? It's crap compared to giant industrial machines!"
For the time it was awesome. It changed forms / evolved as you leveled your ultimate. It redid the VO, particals, and pretty much everything. It was magnificent compared to skins at the time.

To end this now, Pulsefire was the first ever skin of it's quality. At it's time of release in like 2012(?), it was worth the price tag. Since then, as skin development has improved, Pulsefire has been left behind in terms of quality. So naturally, it will look bad compared to others in it's price range.
That said, Ezreal is getting a VGU soonish. I would imagine this was an opportunity Riot is taking to fully update Pulsefire to make it worthy of the Ultimate price tag it has.
From what Iron Stylus said about PFE years ago (in a comment replying to a request to update Ezreal's walk cycle), it sounds like they really had to get creative with the model/rig/animation to make the skin work at all.
Yes, PFE (even the updated PFE) isn't as impressive as the newer Ultimate skins. But from a technical achievement stand point it definitely deserves it's status as an Ultimate Skin. The refresh was greatly appreciated.
You're fundamentally misunderstanding what an Ultimate Skin is meant to be. Ultimate skins are meant to be innovative and push the boundaries of the technology available to Riot at the time. PFE was made in 2012 - the tools and technology available to Riot has drastically improved in the 6 years since then.
By this same logic, GGMF shouldn't be an Ultimate skin because Riot didn't try anything new - it's just Elementalist Lux minus the damage requirement for the evolutions.
He was the first ultimate skin, right? His skin evolves over time, in addition to having enhanced recall, and different dance, taunt, and laugh animations.
Generally that it took a shitload of time, and is awesome. Having said that, if they rework it to be just another Arcade Skin and give him a new ultimate - I'm all for that.
Either way, the Metroid/MegaMan concept is a total blast! (pun absolutely intended and you will enjoy this)
It evolves as you level up.
It changes over the course of the game. That's pretty much it.
PF Ezreal HAS multiple forms, just saying.
It was the first ultimate skin. And they generally don't update skins. His is the only case where they changed one and only one skin in its entirety because it was outdated.
But he's also getting a visual update in the coming months, so it's already getting fixed and no longer needs posts about it.
