If riot were to perhaps make another champion that wields a shield how would u guys feel about it?

Now we all know and love braum he’s one of the most iconic characters in league due to his personality and well his shield and his role as a support, and what makes braum a really iconic champion in my opinion is that he always has ur back in fact braum himself is a shield.

But what if we made another shield support tank champion? If you think of kindred,Varus, and ashe they all have a bow but their use of their bows in a different way so riot is capable of making champs doing different things but with similar weaponry

Now let’s think of Braum.. what does he do? For one he uses his shield to block projectiles like any normal shield in games would do, but he shoots a projectile which u don’t see a lot of shields do

So if riot were to make another shield champion I think these ideas would work

Using a shield to deflect projectiles Using a bash ability combined with a dash would be cool Using the shield as kind of like a boomerang like how captain America does it

And of course any magic power/anything unique that the wielded uses in synergy with his/her shield

Anyways those are my thoughts of how riot should handle another shield champ if they were to make on

The "problem" is that Riot are trying to tie visuals to gameplay more than they have been at the beginning of the game. So to make a shield champion, they'd need a reason to have a shield.

Now, normally, shields are seen to do the following: protect yourself, protect those around you, and hit people with them. Now shields technically did a bit more than that, if one goes into formation fighting and weapon pinning and so forth. But Riot usually only goes with the surface level knowledge of weaponry to develop their champions.

And on that surface level, there already are two champions that focus on using a shield to defend others: Braum, and aggressively: Pantheon. So I don't really see them trying to make another shield focused champion.

But if they were, I want a Roman Legionnaire that uses his shield as a means of signally and getting his allies to coordinate. A lot of teamplay based around the shield. That'd be awesome.

Pantheon's getting his rework soon, so maybe he'll have more to do with his shield. After all, when he was released, it was a thing in the announcement that he was the first champion to have a shield post-release (obviously Singed was the first).

I'm surprised there hasn't been a single sword and board champion in the entire League roster.

I think I remember the reasoning being that it'd be a bit too generic of a design, but I think plenty of cool things can be done with it.

Edit: Nevermind, forgot Leona exists. But I still stand by my point that another one could exist and still be their own unique thing.

I think that if Riot ever made another shield hero, then they'd actually focus less on the shield and more on other aspects. For example they could make it someone who uses their shield like a gauntlet for attacking, uses it like captain america or who focuses on some kind of magical ability and the shield is just a bonus to that.

So essentially I think that Braum will always be THE shield champion, but there might be other champions who focus on other things while also being equipped with only a shield.
