Since Riot has decided to remove Sumonners and IoW, some champs might need new ideas for their story. They all have some background (Jax more or less mysteriously appeared, Fiddle was from Zaun etc.), but crutial part of their lore was connected directly to IoW. So they'd need new lore. I decided to put there my suggestion of approximate new theme and overall story rework for general mages mainly.

Part I - Seed of Magic Nobody remembers when exactly, but since certain time, magic appeared in Runeterra. Magic essence could have been sensed within nature, mountains, cities, people. Some people didn't believe in might of the essence and decided to sharpen their strength different way (non-mana users). Others were calling upon the essence called Mana to enhance their physical status in small amount (better aim, strength, endurance, speed etc.). And there were few gifted with ability to create instant bursts of the Mana, dependant on their mana pool, but capable of breathing fire, cursing and enchanting - those called Mages.

Once ordinary people or those not so gifted with mana noticed the power Mages wielded, they got afraid of them dominating their domains, so magic hunt started. Many Mages were drowned, many were burned. Remaining few run away to the south near the Great Barrier, only to discover a mysterious forest.

Part II - Magic Thriving Mages were curious how come armies can pass the Great Barrier and fight around and never notice or discover the forrest. It looked like it was magically hidden and only those talented in magic could find it. The ground was soaked with Mana, threes were rising in might and mystical rites were found now and then. Those rites were marked with mysterious letters called Runes, obviously granting the area its sorcery.

Like If some original race founded the forest, summoned magic. The magic was most concentrated in the forest as the purpose of its summoning, but leaked into other corners of the world, too. That's why Mages were everywhere, just not as strong as those drinking from the source within the forest. Yet, the founding race recorded in the Writer's Scriptures as Orikin was nowhere to be found.

The Mages founded thriving city in the middle of the forest now recorded as the Elderwood, where they could live free and happy. But noone's happiness lasts forever.

Part III - Cosmic Gates There were three powerful Mages leading the group, recorded as The Writer, The Invoker and The Guardian. The Invoker, eager to experiment with hisnewly found powers, underwent research of the Runes. He figured out that when placed certain way, they invoke the might to tear the air apart and open a gate through the Cosmos, a portal to another worlds.

Big progress in the magic research, yet recorded as tragedy. The first gate ever was opened into world recorded as The Nightmare Alley. Soon the three Mages recorded mutually as the Trinity realised the place brings nothing good and closed the gate, only slightly sensing some dark powers might have been brought to their domain with them. They decided never to open more gates again. Yet, it was too late.

Part IV - Elderwood Dying The Trinity could only make theories about what happened. The Writer suggested there might be another kind of magic, parasiting, which burns life for its own prosperity and immortality. It looked like such powers consumed The Nightmare Alley. The Invoker feared those powers began to starve there once they ate it all and the Trinity now let them to new world they could feed on. The Guardian soon noticed they are close to the truth.

The Elderwood started to expose places were there was no presence of life or magic. They tried to supress the intel about this at first, but soon all Mages learnt that the Trinity summoned doom upon them all. Mages hoped the Trinity might fix it, but they expressed they have no knowledges of the demise or how to stop it. A massive uproar took on.

Desperate to find solution, the Trinity locked theirself in the underground of Magasfer City and commited the Seal of Time ritual. All three Mages sacrificed part of their souls, becoming just essence that combined into single entity - Ryze. Using the magic drained from sacrificing their souls, Ryze sealed the time of Magasfer. Everyone was imprisoned there, but they were saved from the Nightmare Corruption. Meanwhile, Elderwood has fallen and turned into what travelers desribe as the Twisted Treeline. The Nightmare powers stopped spreading, nobody knows why.

Part V - Awakening Meanwhile magic, despite not so strong as before, spread more. With more people customized to use it, more new Mages and their bigger usage in strategic sphere, people began to tolerate Mages. Emipres were rising and falling and the Runeterra, named after the mysterious magic letters found in the Twisted Treeline, turned into the image we know now.

With Elderwood falling, it lost its protection and was finally discovered. Some explorers were lost and only rumors remained. Some talked about the terrifying environment the Twisted Treeline has. Others even brought legends of the Ruins of the Magasfer they have found, having no intel about how it was unsealed, how it has fallen.

The City's mystery remains covered with mists up to now. Only few survivors managed to run away from the Twisted Treeline, roaming our lands, trying to fade in.

Champion - Ryze Once the city was unsealed, Ryze disembowed his entity into three individuals again. Though most of their powers were still stored within The Writer who kept the name Ryze, The Invoker and The Guardian took their identities and their ways split.

Champion - Fiddlesticks Originally The Invoker, this talented Mage decided to stay at the Twisted Treeline, believeing he could contain its powers, harness immortality and become even stronger. Instead, the Twisted Treeline possesed him, turning him into what he is now, the herald of doom, the future where The Nightmare Corruption takes over the world, leaving no life, no existence, just a waste of nothing.

Champion - Jax Originally The Guardian, little magic remained withim him, still very capable of bending Mana to his will for extraordinary strength and accuracy. Devoted to protect the weak so that he could silence his guilt of what happened in the Elderwood.

Champion - Nocturne Asaide of the essence of The Nightmare Corruption, representating the corruption and now living within Fiddlesticks, another form of the power arose, the Nightmare Bringer Nocturne, living within dreams of mortals, waking them up to horror sights. NOTE: Zed = Nocturne theory still possible wink

Map - Twisted Treeline Originally representing the world Nocturne comes from the Architect found once, now represents the current form of the Elderwood.

Event - Nightmare Alleys Riot has decided Harrowing won't be connected to time (no longer Halloween event) so that is becomes story event such as Howling Abyss - Freljord Queens; Ascension - Shurima Return; Butcher's Bridge - Bilgwater Shenigans... So a little event of explorers reminding themself the horros of TTT once a year on the day it was discovered might replace it. This still might have event of another horror rising there and roaming Runeterra as story event.

It took some time to write it down so I hope it won't go to waste.
