The Targonian Aspect of... character development

Targon is by far one of the biggest mysteries in the current lore, in time I think we will see more revealed, perhaps with the Kayle Morgana VGU or a Soraka lore update. So I'd like to discuss a direction in the lore that I hope to see expanded upon in the future.

In particular, Pantheon, his story ends with a massive story hook and cliffhanger, however, for a character bio it took away the character we grew attached to and replaced him with no context on the new character. So who is Pantheon? Is he the pragmatic Rakkoran warrior Atreus, or is he an enigmatic Celestial Aspect of War? Personally I'd like to keep both and develop both halves of the character in a way unique to other champions in symbiosis.

"Unfortunately while the lore does not confirm that Atreus' return is impossible, the only hint of such occurring is a Rioter comment, which the Narrative team could have changed their minds on a long time ago. So we are at the phase where we need to develop Pantheon the Aspect of War. How do we do that?"

I would like to see Pantheon (and other Aspects where possible) developed in a similar fashion to Ornn and Braum. Legends of the many battles Pantheon would have fought, the tales of the monsters he would have slain in previous incarnations and how he would become to be viewed by Rakkoran culture. In my opinion these are the best ways to tell stories of demigods, and legendary heroes, i.e. Theseus' Journey to Athens and the 12 labours of Hercules. This is where imo Freljord mythos has Mt. Targon and Shurima beat, although we got a hint of this in Ta'anari's speech from Twilight of the gods.

The main reason behind this thread, is to discuss the exploration of who the Targonians are, to the people of Runeterra and not just as "the faction that stands against the Void". Are the Aspects of the Sun and Moon worshiped as gods by the Solari and Lunari respectively? If so, do the they also gain power from the prayers of their followers similar to other deities like Janna and Anivia? What influences have Aspects like Pantheon left on the culture of Mt. Targon, seeing that Atreus is not the first Aspect of War on Runeterra?

Things like the nod to Serylda's connection to Targon in Lissandra's lore and Demacia's connection to Mt. Targon (possiby through Kayle & Morg) are important stories I hope get their equal share of spotlight and that everything Targon related is not just: Targon vs the Void, not to mention the Solari Lunari conflict. As long as it's Targon related feel free to leave the stories/ ideas you'd like to see explored or think would help better define Targon as region.

for a character bio it took away the character we grew attached to and replaced him with no (very little) context on the new character.

The thing is, i find the broad discussion over the 'lack of character development' for these champions and the region to be quite over-done. There is no argument for what the solution would be because it's obvious. But it's not so literal as suggesting more lore for these characters because that is Riot's guarantee. I think the solution is actually community patience first.

Lore will come full-circle and Mount Targon, or perhaps just those individual characters will have moments to shine further through future stories, they might be the protagonist, they might be a background figure. It will happen eventually like it happened for Twilight/Myisha.

A comment I recall that stuck out to me when the Targon rewrite came out was about Diana. That it felt as though the Aspect had given her everything she needed to become an Aspect. The thing I agree with here is that Diana's lore could definitely stand to explore more how hard she truly studied Solari text to find her place in their culture.

I could imagine Diana having memorized the very theology of the Solari. She didn't question the elders because she was looking for the flaws of their belief rather she was so familiar with it, that the flaws became apparent to her. This is something I think deserves to be touched on if her lore is ever revisited.

Soraka isn't exactly a Targonian, neither is Sol. They are more.... Targon Adjacent.
