Sexualization in LOL

So I know I will get a lot of hate from this post but here goes anyway. I read a couple of posts about how eve is sexy and that's her theme so everyone needs to stop bitching about how sexualized she is. So most people might consider me a prude but I don't see any reason to do this or why riot should support hypersexualization. Riot even posted that on the pbe there are multiple splashes available because some regions may see it as offensive. I don't understand why riot does not take the high road on this and just make thier champions tasteful to everyone. This company condemns homophobic language, frowns on excessive cursing, and takes a stance against bullying/ toxicity because they are offensive to players. You can't tell me it's because sex sells because you see a champs splash for 30 seconds and then you get a ill defined small 3d model for 60 min of gameplay. It's the gameplay that makes lol one of the most popular games. I don't buy a skin beacuse boobs are hanging out in the splash and I'm sure not buying the pulsfire ez because he turns me on. I'm buying the skin cause the theme is cool and particles are a nice touch. Riot said they "don't want to make assumptions about na or eu players" but they don't rally care if they offend a handful of people so long as the majority are cool with it. I guess by this though logic it's okay to be homophobic since they are a minority. Its okay to curse excessively because it's mostly older players anyway. It's okay to bully people since it's online and people shouldn't be such big babbies. p.s. this is not just about eve I'm just piggybacking on posts where everyone supports hypersexualization because that is her identity.

So go ahead start with the downvotes, call me a whiney bitch, and question my sexuality.

Silence, begone with your censorship pushing.

You are effectively condemning people who don't share the same "taste" as you right here, which is kind of what your point is in your whole post.

If you truly are being offended by the way a drawn, fictional, character is being displayed in a videogame, then you need to fix your priorities.

Because you want attention?

whiney bitch, downvoted

actually what i really want to say is that while i understand where you are coming from, until you have a valid reason for them not to sexualize something, why shouldn't they? further more not everything is sexualized. like most the male cast, leona, diana, kayle etc. form an artistic standpoint there is no reason to censor something for the sake of censorship.

I think you're missing the point. Riot makes plenty of characters that are not hypersexualized, and they even have done lore work recently (The recent MF story) to build characters up as people instead of leaving them as one dimensional figures.

Evelynn's entire theme is temptation and sexualization. That's what makes Evelynn Evelynn and not some other champion. If it was some other champion like Taliyah or Lux I would agree with you, but in this case I think you've taken the character out of context in order to complain about their 'oversexualization' and I do not think that is reasonable.

Why should I question your sexuality lmao.

I did not even think about it until you said, and I still don't have an idea about your sexuality, neither give a fuck.

You're one of the first people I think as SJW, I don't even like this word but really...

You give me idea of a troll.

From my perspective as a guy, when I see Taric Garen Darius Rakan Yasuo and Tryndamere I don't think "Why can't I be like these guys? These are what women like. I should be like them, but I can't." Instead, I think "Oh man! These guys are cool! Look at theme exuding confidence! These are some people I'd like to read about."

And that's pretty much how I stand about the more sexualized female characters like Ahri MissFortune and Evelynn.

I don't think to myself, "These are the types of women I would like to have a relationship with." (ignoring the fact that I'd likely end up dead) Instead, I think "These are women that are so confident in themselves that they can show off their sexiness and bad-ass-ness without fear."

And, for me, that's what it boils down to. The characters of LoL show off who they are to us in order for us to know why they're 'Legends'. Sometimes through dialogue, sometimes through combat, sometimes though looks. From the more conservatively dressed to the 'lightly clothed'.

Hell, there's a reason I use

All the time. He looks sexy and confident enough that he can work the color pink with no problems.

The game has a diverse roster of characters. The majority of countries in the world that play this game do not find the sexiness of Evelynn offensive. Sure, one or two may find it distasteful, but on the whole, Evelynn will be more appealing to a wider audience as she is than if she were censored. Just because certain nations seek to censor her doesn't make her a bad design, it just means that country isn't woke and has super strict laws regarding media portrayal.

Every read Evelynn's lore? Probably should do that sometime, would help you understand why she's "hyper sexualized"

Who's going to make a champ with a lore of being incredibly strong/buff then make him a scrawny little boy? Because the men who aren't overly buff will "get offended"? Not only are you "a whiny bitch" (as you said in your post) you're an ignorant one.

My opinion on the sexualization of Eve is derived from the "de-sexualization" of other champs.

Yes, MF and Ahri are still sexy, but that's because Riot didn't get to changing their models are VO.

And in Ahri's case, she's a 9-tailed fox. Even if she doesn't act sexual, people will put sexuality into it because of anime.

So, with the de-sexualization of the characters, I'm referring to lore. Ahri's main way of trapping people isn't seducing people with an alluring figure. She can, but that's more or less like a super pretty female that draws guys to her purely because she's pretty. With that being said, she feeds of emotions, souls, and memories. In fact, the only sexual reference in lore that we saw after her lore update was when Santiago, the Piltover researcher first saw her. He was enamored by her beauty, but that was the only time. She didn't purposefully do anything to draw her in. He caught her naked taking a bath, and it was more about him than her. Right now, Ahri was refocused on what it means to be human while fighting against her animalistic hunger for souls and memories.

Miss Fortune's sexuality is a weapon she doesn't even focus on using on. She's a woman who knows she's hot, so she can use it as an extra tool or weapon, but it is not a main weapon. In fact, if she can tackle something without the "I'm a hot woman" card, she will DEFINITELY go that route. Her ditsy persona and behavior is her acting and playing a role to get guys to either underestimate her or be willing to assist her with a random task here or there. Regardless of that, she shows herself as a woman capable of anything a man can do. She can fight, debate, as well as go through the muck and rain if need be. In Burning Tides, you only have one part where she was actually a "playful girl". After that, everything she did was serious and deserving of the title of "Captain".

And these are 2 of the women who many look at as hypersexualized and whatnot. Then we have people like Jinx, Kalista, and Illaoi that contradicts the conventional rules of sexualization. With that being said, I feel that with Eve's entire character and theme being centralized around sexuality isn't bad if that is truly her character and not just "sex for the sake of sex." Before she was a demon-esque assassin who's big thing was being a sexual predator. The reason why Eve missed the mark in the first place was because the only thing they expressed her succubus ways was her cringe-worthy BDSM straps and gear. Now, they had two ways of going with her. They could have just trashed the entire succubus thing they had from the start to focus on paid assassin, or trash th paid assassin and focus on here entire succubus tendencies. Either way, she needed to be some demon-like entity who stalks people. So, they decided to can "paid assassin" since--being a demon and all--she doesn't need any compensation outside of her desire to cause some form of suffering.

With that being said, while I would let Eve slide through purely because of focus and theme, I honestly would be put off and slightly disappointed like you if the VERY next female champion is sexualized without any proper clause like how old MF or old Ahri was.

Stop. Eve is not the only champion in the game. There are plenty of other champions that aren't like her at all, and some people like champions like Eve. You are basically asking Riot to make champions that only fit your ideals and to forget everyone else.
