They've set Qiyana up to grow.

From her bio, Qiyana seems like a wholly unlikable character. She's an immature child with an inferiority complex, intensified by the fact she has more talent than her siblings. And having grown up in a completely sheltered, xenophobic culture has left her with the false impression that she is the most powerful mage who ever lived. But she's just a big fish in a little pond.

From the sounds of it, her story is going to be mainly confined to interactions with Piltover's miners. Which is a fantastic way to feed her ego even more. They could come back again and again with inadequate bodyguards, bolstering her up until one of the champions who could actually take her on decides to show up and destroy her entire worldview. Camille would be a good fit for the part, and it could quite easily fit that the mines belong to her family. They could be mining for the raw materials that make up their synthetic hextech crystals.

But that's only scratching the surface. Nevermind someone without magic standing toe to toe with her thanks to advanced technology, if she or her people get involved in the greater threats that threaten the entire planet, then she's going to learn real fast that there are far more powerful magics at work in the world than hers. Hell, there's also the opportunity to put her up against characters with better control over single elements like Yasuo, Janna, Nami, or Taliyah. There's so much room for her to grow, and to eventually cure her of the debilitating lack of self-worth she grew into. I'm actually excited to see what they can do with her.

huh, its hillarious you use the phrase, "big fish, little pond" as I just made another post exactly about that. It crossed my mind that she has no comprehension that a nation like Noxus exists: a place built to cultivate people like her. There she's impressive, but not the best.

I deffinitly see her lore leading to two conclusions:

  • She leads her people to destruction, drawing the attention of a nation like Noxus and has to fight a real military
  • She grows and learns a bit of humility, saving herself before she walks towards her own death.

We can say the same thing for almost half of the champions that we have today... But the consistency

I feel sorry for her. I would be pissed as hell if my siblings got all the love and I was ignored or repressed. Of course she wants to be the best....she wants to prove her family wrong and make them see she deserves to be respected. So tbh i hate her siblings and parents more than her for being so cold. Especially since I have very loving parents its hard seeing ppl (even fictional ones) struggle with that.

I hope canonically Morde just splats her into the ground with his mace for daring to steal his spotlight.

Exactly way more interesting than interesting perfect character and trying to wow the audience with how righteous they are.

It's like the difference between Jaime Lannister and Jon Snow

One is just waaay more interesting than the other

So 3 years from now she'll be likeable.

... Joking aside I can't imagine any changes in her personality from lore will be reflected in her in-game character.

This makes her sassy splash art make more sense

I like her civilization even less. They made it a Mary Sue nation that basically started both Targon and Shurima via the Ascension and it makes me furios towards the writers.

for the first time, Riot releases a champion with a cool kit that looks ok...and then they ruin her by making her a unsufferable %%%%. Please take her back in the workshop and TONE DOWN THE BS!
