Is Azir viewed as evil to the people of Shurima?

This is something I noticed in the recent story about Taliyah and Yasuo. But when Taliyah realized that Azir was back she got very worried for her family as she thinks he will enslave them.

It honestly hadn't occurred to me that they would fear Azir. Thinking about it if you were to be in Shurima at it's current time then Azir would appear as a cruel emperor that fueled his empire on the backs of slaves, which probably became the different tribes of Shurima. They would not have known that Azir intended to free them after his ascension. So the thought of his return probably must be horrifying. Imagine if Hitler or Stalin came back as a magical bird god and began to rebuild their country as they see fit, that is probably what it would be like.

Another thing this leads me to think is that they may show hatred to the other ascended as well. Obviously Renekton isn't helping the case, but Nasus is probably feared and hated as well by association. But what of Xerath? IF they even know he exists he may be seen as either a mad mage that destroyed a great nation OR a slave that destroyed an evil regime. Sivir may even see backlash for being related to him.

I can only imagine each of the tribes see these events differently as time was probably not kind to any historical recordings from that time.

Azir is going to have his work cut out for him rebuilding Shurima if the first people he sees throws rotten fruit at him. He has quite a bit of growth to go through if he wishes to rule again.

Either way I'm eager to see where this goes, and what happends to Taliyah in the feljord. (I hope her next teacher is Braum!)

Here's the gist of it:

Azir freed every slave in all of Shurima minutes before his destruction. That means the only people aware of this are: Azir, Nasus, Renekton, Xerath, and Sivir. Because of this, the act that all the slaves are free is not common knowledge. Everyone else just knows this; a living god is walking the sands. It wouldn't be unthought-of that he would have slaves. This is what Taliyah sees. As for Xerath and Renekton, they will probably be feared, though Nasus is a legend. Anyhow, it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

Hope that helped!

Considering that we know not a lot, try to view it from Shurimans' eyes:

They see an ancient capital city rise from the desert floating around and they learn that this is the work of an ancient emepror reborn as a godlike being that wants to bring back Shurima to an age when emperors had tons of slaves.

This doesn't look too promising from a commoner point of view.

Edit: None of the ppl who heard Azir freeing them all survived the fall of Shurima.

Im curious to see more. But i fear Riot wont give details about that. They will only focus on individual stories, which are great, but neglect the overall geopolitical scenario apart from "Noxus Smash" and "shit happens".

And then when they finally can elaborate more, they will change stuff around again ^_^

Great question.

Azir is indeed back, why can't all Shurimans join his dynasty? I believe Azir wants to recreate the Shuriman Empire.

Yeah I think Azir won't be welcomed by his own home and I wonder how he'll react to that.

I mean how does azir want to bring the people back to the capital? What if they don't want to serve him? Will he force them?

Sure Azir might have only the best intentions, but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

He is a Giant Bird God with strong magical abilities that is here to change their lives just like that out of nowhere.....yeah I would also at least be cautious of him.
