I don't want anymore stories of Runeterra...

I want to be a part of Runeterra.

I just read the new "The Eye in The Abyss" story, and I loved it. The amount of worldbuilding in just this one story is fascinating. Not only do we get a good look into an entire race of people, but we get more info on one of the actual maps used in the game.

And, it is all fantastic, don't get me wrong. Ryze's video and stories, the lore updates, everything is just fan-fricken-tastic.

But it all feels like I'm staring at one of the most beautiful paintings I've ever seen. It's gorgeous from the outside, but there is no way to be a part of this world. There is no way to experience this world for myself, and so all I'm left with is being left outside of it, looking in.

If any of you know me, I have been clamoring for Runeterra focused MMO for a very long time, even to the point that I'm sure some people find it annoying. But with every story that gets released, every video gets made, and every champ gets updated, my want, my hunger to experience this world only gets stronger and stronger.

Now, many people have come back at me saying that an MMO may not be the best decision, and everyone has brought up extremely good points as to why. It's just that I'm sick of being stuck on the outside of this brilliant world that Riot is building. A few months ago, I compared Runeterra to that of Azeroth (World of Warcraft) and Pandora (James Cameron's Avatar), and I still stand by what I said. But in WoW, you get to experience Azeroth for everything it has to offer, and the Avatar movie is so well made that it feels like you're actually on another planet when watching it.

The game League of Legends doesn't do that.....it's merely a taste of what Runeterra really is. The videos and stories don't do that either, for they, too, are only small snippets of the greater world.

You can't drip feed someone for too long, because at some point, it becomes legitimate torture........and we are really close to that point Riot.

I want to see Xerath as a raid boss.

Wait, we kinda already have that in Ascension.

Well, I may be a bit biased here, since I don't particularly like MMOs or, really, Runeterra all that much. But doesn't this seem like a pretty bad idea?

We only just got a map. Hell, we are still getting retcons, some of it contradicting the stuff that was after the great retcon that is supposed to start the new continuity. The setting is still very much in flux, generally not a good thing when trying to design an MMO.

That, and, this would be an MMO of an honestly still pretty generic fantasy world with a bunch of largely disparate settings. You got Pirate Land, Medieval Land, MagiPunk Land. There already is an MMO like that, it's called World of Warcraft. And historically games that go up against WoW don't fair all too well. They either have to do something wildly unique that grabs player's attention like Guild Wars, or come from a property that already has a loyal fanbase. Things like Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls, or Star Wars. And I don't think there is enough interest in the world of Runeterra as an actual serious setting, yet. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Honestly, some of the other boards I frequent have just plainly stated that the LoL lore doesn't matter. And we get people popping in on this board to say the same with some slight frequency.

I’d love an MMORPG based on Runeterra, can see it being soooo potentially immersive due to the huge variances in cultures not just between continents, but settlements as well. So much established/referenced culture means there’s already something to start with, and that can be built upon. There’s also so many different conflicts. Rune Wars, the return of the Watchers and Void, the Rivalry between Noxus and Demacia, the Ionian War with Noxus, the Shuriman conflict, the rising issue with the Darkin, Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles(and even more).....not just a generic big bad... and there’s SO MUCH to explore, even regions that haven’t been revealed yet. Even aside from conflicts the world is so interesting.

What I don’t want is for the already established champions to be options to play, nor do I particularly want them to be raid bosses, except maybe the void related ones... and even then... For me I’d love to see them be interactive.. have a group of Rioters who play that champ and move around the world (so not an AI NPC) (maybe make them anonymous so they won’t be flooded with requests or flame etc lol) and can randomly decide whether or not to help.

But Yh, It’d be sooo fun to just explore and immerse urself in Runeterra

MMO's are too risky, they won't make one. Too expensive, and to cultivate a stable player base the amount of release content would have to be staggering. They would probably be able to pull off a single player open world RPG really well, or something akin to Destiny that flirts with being an MMO but isn't.

I would personally prefer a Singleplayer game instead rather than a MMO, but I get the idea here & completely agree with it.

Riot Games should make more games about the world of Runeterra, it's characters & it's stories. Making other games not only allow them other avenues of gameplay & storytelling, but it would also allow them to spread Runeterra & it's characters to other audiences. Show people, who never played League or have no interest in League's gameplay, the life & tales of various champs through other types games that they maybe more into.

I really want an MMO focused on playing up on multiple factions. Have players choose between:

  • Demacia
  • Noxus
  • Freljord
  • Shurima
  • Ionia
  • Bilgewater
  • Bandle City
  • Mount Targon
  • Piltover
  • Zaun And then have the Shadow Isles and the Void be villain factions that you have the option to join through corruption later on. Each faction would have an initial internal questline that has to do with the region's local villain/anti-hero(s):

Demacia: Nocturne / Evelynn Noxus: (Insert rebellious section of empire here) Freljord: Lissandra / Volibear / Trundle Shurima: Xerath / Renekton / Cassiopeia Ionia: Zed / Jhin / Syndra Bilgewater: Gangplank / Nautilus / Pyke Bandle City: Veigar Mount Targon: Pantheon / Zoe Piltover: Camille / Jinx Zaun: Singed / Urgot / DrMundo

Maybe we could have some faction specific raids that are released beside each other to show off faction rivalries:

Demacia vs Noxus Raid Event Bosses when Playing as Demacia- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Draven Katarina Talon Kled Darius Leblanc Vladimir Sion Final Boss: Swain Bosses when Playing as Noxus- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Fiora Quinn XinZhao Poppy Garen Lux Shyvana Galio Final Boss: JarvanIV

Piltover vs Zaun Raid Event Bosses when Playing as Piltover- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): DrMundo Singed Warwick Ziggs Jinx Viktor Final Boss: Urgot Bosses when Playing as Zaun- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Orianna Ezreal Heimerdinger Caitlyn Vi Jayce Final Boss: Camille

Freljord Three Sisters Raid Event Bosses when Fighting Ashe- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Anivia Tryndamere Final Boss: Ashe Bosses when Fighting Sejuani- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Olaf Volibear Final Boss: Sejuani Bosses when Fighting Lissandra- Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Nunu Trundle Final Boss: Lissandra

All Vs the Void/Watchers Raid Event Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): KogMaw Khazix RekSai Chogath Velkoz Malzahar Final Boss: (Insert Escaped Watcher Here)

All vs the Shadow Isles Raid Event Pre-Final Bosses (ordered): Kalista Karthus Thresh Hecarim Final Boss: Mordekaiser
