Well first point, lion roaring pauldrons (shoulder pads. Really?) are not unique to WoW. Hell theyre not even unique to fantasy. Similar (if smaller more functional) designs were actually used in armor.

Second point. Man, a lot of Riots designs are direct homages to other work. From The Joker to troll dolls. Hell, Garen looks more like a WoW character than anything else.

It just seems odd to get upset about this point.

Because Lion Shoulder pads were invented by WoW. How do you people take yourselves seriously?

Are YOU TELLING ME Graves should have died on the Broken Shore?

That's because almost all WoW devs that quit Blizzard go to work for Riot, even the wikipedia of Riot Games says they are hiring people who quit Blizzard lol

Their entire game was a copy of a copy of a Warcraft game mode....similar kinds of character apparances will ultimately happen.

Okay, so...What about it? I really doubt they took the design idea from World of Warcraft, because the designs of the Paladin tier set and the designs of Graves' armor are pretty wholly separate. (although they look alike, but that's not the point.)

The Paladin Tier Sets are usually inspired to look divine in some way, often in some way that looks natural to the expansion, and such is the case with the set displayed. The designs are there to mimic one of the Wild Gods, Xuen, the White Tiger, who is a primordial animal deity in Pandaria, hence the tiger heads on the pauldrons.

Meanwhile Victorious skins aim to capture their namesake word in some way that anyone who saw it would understand and be able to say that the appearance fits the theme; "victorious". Much like Victorious Sivir's armor having ropeworked trim and laurels, the latter of which can generally be associated with power and prestige, Victorious Graves' armor is supposed to be exotic (because pirates) while also looking prestigious - so, they used a lion motif to express it.

Because, generally, when you think of lions in terms of design, you think of power, pride, and ferocity. And, lions have always kind of been some design that's drawn back to for evoking those thoughts, especially for designs of medieval kings and the like.

That being said, I reiterate; it's highly unlikely that Riot took any ideas from World of Warcraft, since the only similarities in design are aesthetic.

To recap; the Paladin Tier set is meant to be divine and natural to the expansion (so, asian-styled, since it's Pandaria), while Victorious Graves' armor is meant to evoke the thought of power, pride, ferocity, and prestige, and most importantly to resonate the word "Victorious".

Besides being a knock off of the warcraft evolution of a starcraft mod....
