@Riot - Who the hell is Ronas to break a bond between twins?

Speaking as a twin myself, I have a pretty damn strong bond with my brother. He can be an ass sometimes, and I can have disagreements with him, but in nearly ALL scenarios, I will prioritize his side of the story over anyone else's and it would be extremely hard for an outside force to break our connection.

So therefore, who the fuck is Ronas to Kayle that his deeds and his death was enough to shatter a twin bond between Morgana and Kayle? You guys greatly underplayed his role in their lore quite significantly, when he's one of the most pivotal characters in their arc. Some random stranger, even if they're your number one follower and prodigy, would have an EXTREMELY difficult time coming between twins, no matter how diverse their ideals. You presented Kayle as compassionate enough towards Morgana's alternate views to work with her in allowing some of the unjust to be redeemed, which tells us that Kayle is very willing to make exceptions for her twin, even if it goes against what her followers believe. So when this random jackass Ronas decides HE wants to take matters into his own hands and imprison and punish the closest living relative and twin of his deity, why does Kayle side with him? Is she fucking him? Is he the father of her babies? Is he secretly a half brother from her mother? It takes a lot to break a bond between twins, and you seemed to imply it broke fairly easily over some outsider without Kayle even entertaining her sister's point of view, despite the fact that Kayle KNOWS her followers disagree vehemently with her sister's methods.

So you've definitely got some explaining to do here. Having Ronas just be a random name in a the lore isn't going to cut it, not when you're trying to have us believe that he just walked in and broke the bond between the twins like it was nothing.

This is an excellent point and I think you've provided some possible answers to the surface question of "who is Ronas and how was it that this particular person, named in the biography, could break the bond between twin sisters" in your post.

I'm going to take a stab at answering the question behind the question, if that makes sense, which is will there be more stories about Kayle and Morgana that delves further into the events that lead to these two twin sisters going their separate ways on rather bad terms?

The only answer we can provide right now is potentially. There's a lot of moving pieces and decisions being made that can't shared, and probably wouldn't really interest most of the people here lol, but hopefully soon the team will be in a better position to come back and revisit some of these really juicy or spicy moments.

Personally, I wouldn't want the story of someone as potentially important or impactful to a champion, as Ronas was to Kayle & Morgana, to be restricted to a paragraph or two in a champion bio. I do agree that, in this case with Ronas, a simple "Oh he showed up, something happened to him, and then the two sisters tried to kill each other" does feel unfulfilling BUT I am hopeful that in mentioning him the team is setting up for future work where the story of Ronas, Kayle, & Morgana could be addressed in more detail.

It's kind of ironic.

Ronas is an anagram for arson, which is the illegal act of setting fire to property, which Kayle did after his death.

I can’t speak much for Ronas, but that was one thing I appreciated about the Canticle of the Winged Sisters, in that it provided another instance of a wedge driving between them.

Morgana leaving Kayle alone in the front lines at Zeffira to protect the civilians but also Kayle not assisting Morgana, neither understanding the other’s actions or situation.

Though we see it didn’t break them completely, and as you said, their twin sisterly bond held enough for Kayle to allow the penitent to live if they went to Morgana. Ronas’s death and the riot might have led Kayle to believe Morgana left Justice’s path. Especially if Ronas truly did just mean to imprison and Morgana just killed him, which could actually go against the idea of justice, since if she was just imprisoned, she would’ve just been found innocent by Kayle.

I too would like to know more about Ronas’s role before his death, and how he was the final splitting force, but I do appreciate at least one other instance of the starting split with Zeffira.

Actually, random thought. Did Kayle know Morgana killed Ronas? I know it says she arrived to find him dead and the city in a riot, at which point Morgana flew up to stop her from destroying the people. Could that have affected her perception? These are the questions..

I won't be surprised if Kayle had something for Ronas. It wasn't conscious and maybe she never tried anything with him because she was supposed to be a paragon and paragons don't get distracted by affairs.

Yet, he was special to her and probably one of the few closest people she had around because her sister did not share her ideas about their holy mission, and all that Zeffira incident, and her father was probably uncomfortable with watching her follow her mother's steps, while Ronas was here, as passionate and dutiful as her. For someone, as self-isolated (at quite young age) as Kayle, this is enough to start feeling affeciton for the guy.

She felt it when he died and it filled her with despair. So when Kayle says that she had felt pain and it made her weak, it makes sense.

She came feeling that something horrible happpened to her crush, saw him dead (I think Morgana admitted doing it), lost herself to the emotion and fought her sister, then she realized that she lost the remnants of her family and everything she worked so hard to build. It left her in an emotional mess and then led her to a conclusion that she gave in to human weaknesses like wanting affection, nepotism and wrath, and if she hadn't done it, nothing of this would have happened.

it's not because you love your twin that you can not quarrel with her. We must not forget that they have celestial power, and if they really disagree, their fight is very heavy as consequences... I do not think Ronas was really important. He represents just what Kayle was trying to do and his death was the spark that lit up the conflict between the two sisters

Even just as a person who has a strong relationship with their sibling, I have to agree that he doesn't offer enough to come between these two. Unless he's not just Kayle's right hand person.. We will see hopefully, I would love a short story that goes over this conflict since it seems like such a pivotal moment for them.

I mean i'm a twin too but I don't really have any innate bond with my brother. He's basically just a brother the same age as me and honestly we don't have a good relationship.

It sounds like Kayle and Morgana were on thin ice before hand too.

I love my brother and all but if Liam Hemsworth's pretty little ass came waltzing around and demanded my brother to be sacrificed to the volcano, my brother would be swimming in lava in no time.

I know I'm late to this party, but I think it's a matter of; "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." ("Blood is thicker than water" derived from this original saying). While the explanation as to Ronas' identity was brief, it did say that he was one of Kayle's "protege"; while that word essentially boils down to "student" it does have a more personal connotation, he and Kayle were close. Kayle had a familial soft spot for Morgana, but not soft enough to forgive the murder of someone so close, someone who only wanted to uphold her ideals; and who both stories attest was attempting to "ARREST" Morg, not "KILL" her. Honestly if Morg had just played along with Ronas' shenanigans he would likely have been put in his place by Kayle (whom would have had the chance to see how her ideals can negatively effect those who aren't evil) and the whole mess never would have happened.
