Splash art and how it represents the champions
I was looking through the splash art when I noticed how the upwards looking angle works with the rest of the composition of Sion and Braum's splash art to convey different feelings.
Sion's splash art uses mostly reds and greys to give a sense of foreboding with Sion standing dead center of our focus. He's glowering down at a fallen soldier, standing on top of his chest as if to strike the final blow. What really makes the rest of the composition work is the fact that we are looking through the eyes of the soldier Sion is attacking. The upwards camera angle is often used to make the viewer feel small in comparison to the object of focus. It emphasizes his strength and power as well as his merciless personality and offence-based move set.
Braum, however, gives off the exact opposite feeling. It mostly uses blue and white in the background and while it mostly means that Braum is from the Freljord, it makes the environment seem less dangerous. Braum is also made to seem much bigger than the viewer through the use of the upward camera. However he has an overall gentle expression and, combined with the fact that he's reaching out his hand to help the viewer up, is meant to make the viewer feel safe and protected. Overall, the splash art is perfect at showing the player that Braum is a kind, gentle soul and that his role as support is meant to protect his teammates from enemy attacks.
I was wondering if anyone had similar observations and if anyone has any ideas on what sort of splash art composition would make sense for certain champions.
