More map investigating

When Kindred implied that they are called Ina and Ani in A Good Death in the west, those names had to be from Ionia. But it was also implied that War was raging around the area where Magga was. The two main side that we know of only is Noxus and Demacia. Now there could be other wars then those two factions. But its nothing we know of.

So Is Ionia closer to Noxus or Demacia? West implies Demacia from the old outdated map. But that could be entirely changed. But it Bard's video where the battle of Bard mountain was happening, the Noxians were there. So It is still easier for Noxus to access Ionia. Meaning that the Island(which is a large Island) is still in the Seas near Noxus. Or Most likely how Japan and Asia works, de-facto. But for the names "Ina and Ani" to be used one would have to think "Ionia."

But maybe the setting where Needlebrook and Jandelle isn't between the Demacian Kingdom and Noxian Empire. This could open up new areas we haven't even heard of yet. I was surprised when Illaoi is revealed to not be of Bilgewater, but a new place called Buhru. Which is indeed on one of the Isles of Blue Flame Isles. I find this a very good way to flesh out that Area of Runeterra. Kinda like how the Caribbean is.

Speaking of Blue Flame Isles, I hear of how the serpentine river was suppose to be near there? Well I do not think so. In Tobias's lore, it was implied that his people are called river folk. But when he left the area, he went to Bilgewater. It's not difficult to stowaway on a ship to the place of chance and fortune. I believe the Serpentine River is still on the mainland Valaran. As you can see on the Rift, the ideal geography of Blue Flame Isles isn't grassy plain lands. I would consider that canon since they made Butcher's Bridge a battle ground and we saw everything.

Also I want to talk about Zaun and Piltover too. As implied in Chronobreak, they are not two far apart. The river or lake that was there should still be there. But I believe that the two cities both have an extension that connects a meeting point to them. The outskirts of both cities. This is probably how that Piltie accessed Zaun so easily. I can't imagine him crossing some ungrassed path to the other city. It could be the outskirts or a whole entirely different place. I for one will not Believe that _ there is only two modernized cities in Runeterra._ There has to be at least 1 or 2 more.

About that shurima map, It seems Targon is below shurima, while Incanthia is east of the capital. So the desert remained the same location being on the southern part of Valaran. Targon can be accepted in this area because it is a mountain. And mountains reaches the skies so it is apparently gonna be colder up there than in a desert. I have not the slightest clue about bandle city or the Kumugu and Plague jungles. But then again it is just a little speculation... I really want to figure out the geography of Runeterra. It gives more in depth on the place.

Before I get in to anything, I wanna bring something to light from the creator of the Shurima map herself!

In response to asking about clarification about the scratched out area on the map being related to Icathia:

Yes! Icathia was striken from the record when it turned from a relatively normal place to the beginnings of what it has come to be. An example of damnatio memoriae.

Responding to a question about the far eastern part of the map:

Well spotted on the croc! It is, however, not safe to assume that there are jungles over there. There was water there, when the map was created.

When asked about the obelisk like structure to the south east:

It's not Zilean's clocktower, unfortunately. Shurima did have, at one time, a network of 'lighthouse'-like constructions that were used for navigation through the vast distances of Shurima. They may also have been used for signaling. Doubtful any have survived.

When asked about the southern mountain:

...yeah. So. Let's pretend that the Shuriman creator of the map was mistaken when they put the giant, map-dominating, mountain to the South. Wouldn't put too much faith in that particular representation.

And finally details pertaining to the north eastern formation, which essentially confirms it's the new location of the Crystal Scar:

I would suggest that the outcropping has a more... crystalline form than rocky. I know it's really hard to make out in this version of the map, though.

Some things to think about. Anyway on to main discussions!

So Ionia being in the east seems the most reasonable course of thinking, considering the Harrowing map implied that the Blue Flame and Shadow Isles were on the eastern side of Runeterra, with Noxian and Ionian ships being of particular note. I think that provides the most solid confirmation we have right now as to Ionia's geographical position.

It's actually been said by Jaredan I believe that the Serpentine actually flows through multiple islands in the "Serpent Isles". I have no idea what the sod the Serpent Isles are unless they're a part of the Blue Flame Archipelago. That's my main assumption at any rate. Buhru and Bilgewater's island are a part of the Serpent Isles, so the Serpentine is pretty much confirmed to be a multi-island river and not be on the mainland. How a river flows through multiple islands is a mystery to me, so hopefully someone can explain the science/magic behind that.

On the Jandelle and Needlebrook angle, I assumed those cities were in land under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Demacia, considering Magga's performance before the King (who was someone before King Jarvan III). While it's not out of the question to suggest a woman from outside the kingdom could gain significant enough reputation to perform in Demacia's capital (presumably this happened in the capital anyway) but I'd put it to be much more likely Magga performed for years in towns within the bounds of the Kingdom, with Jandelle and Needlebrook being included in that area. That's just a gut feeling of mine though based on the evidence, I could be wrong and those two towns could be in what was once known as Kaladoun. Damn been a long time since that word was seen in the lore huh?

Zaun and Piltover are almost certainly super close by. There may be the Runeterran equivalent of a main road/motorway that allows for travel across the land quickly and easily, or perhaps a train system that does that work. Potentially there's a huge bridge over a lake separating them, but I'm inclined to believe that the cities bleed in to each-other at the borders, with the two cities sorta being divided only by the small/negligible amount of city between their specific borders. Also on the "Only modern cities" angle, that could be true depending on how long techmaturgical science has been a main stay of the city's cultures. If it's been around for centuries then yeah, no way. If it's only a few decades than I see it as much more plausible that there aren't other cities of the magnitude of Piltover and Zaun with that kind of technological progression behind them. Let's not forget that the only indication we've seen that the rest of the world gives a damn about Techmaturgy is Bilgewater for the money and Noxus in one instant; to keep Urgot around without resorting to actual necromancy. While the two rival cities may be old by the standards of human history techmaturgy itself doesn't have that kind of history as far as we know.

One final note I wanna mention is the Shuriman Rust Coast. Nothing major I just thought it was interesting to note that Shurima has a coast line. The thought never cross my mind but apparently the hundred's of miles long desert ain't landlocked. Good to know.
