From a Creative Standpoint, why on Earth was Galio replaced with a different champion?
Looking at Disney's latest superhero movie in the making, I can't help but wonder what the goal was when tackling the Galio 'rework'. He doesn't resemble his old self in any real form; and - apart from his q and (if we're really being generous) his taunt - there's nothing in his kit to imply that he was ever old Galio at all.
As someone who has been pining for the Urgot rework for a while now, this sort've makes me pessimistic. If Mage aoe Galio can be turned into a bruiser who punches things, then what's to stop AD Urgot becoming, say, a melee assassin?
Shouldn't reworks be aiming to MAINTAIN the identity and moveset of a champion? Or, optimistically, enhance upon it? I mean, if nothing else - at LEAST for a Champ's existing fanbase. After all, THEY are the ones who want these reworks the most.
Nobody else really cared. But we deleted their champ to fill his spot with this new one, anyways.
I'm just saying.
went from "good guy from a different world" to "demacian who failed his duty, was banished, then met an alien on his quest for atonment that gave him powers"
went from "undead gravedigger who also acts as a ferryman" to "former monk who resists the corruption of the undead and tries to end the curse of the shadow isles by using it against it"
went from "alchemist who got cursed" to "evil guy who willingly became a monster" and finally to "guy who was transformed into a beast against his will and is now essentially a batman who kills and who tends to loose control over his actions during combat"
